He said he was planning on being lighter for Pulev but if he fought takam wit ha full camp he would have come in heavier! Just how heavy was he talking?!?
Exact weights; Joshua 254.25lbs, that's 115,3kg or 18 stone, 2 rocks and 2 pebbles for the Brits among us. Takam 235.5lbs = 106,8kg or 16 stone, 11 rocks, 4 pebbles.
It's strange. Hopefully focusing on endurance was a big part of this camp and his weight is as he says... Just filling out! We'll see Saturday whether or not stamina comes in to play. I must say Takam looks in great shape.
I'm a little surprised, thought he would've learned his lesson from the Klitschko fight that 250+ isn't a good weight for him. If Takam can make it out of the first few rounds, Joshua could be in trouble.
Highest weight of his career. He said he intended to come in lighter for Pulev but thats obviously not the case. Puluv is a big lump who doesn't move much so the high weight would have been more beneficial for that fight than this one. Takam being this light suggests he is going to box and move off the back foot like he did with Povetkin. Interesting.
Joshua to go all out in rounds 1 and 2. He knows he can't let this fight go beyond 4 rounds at Takam pace or he will gas and burn.
Before the Klitschko fight AJ hadn't been in any fight beyond 7 rounds, and hardly any beyond 3 rounds, so we don't know if 243 or 245 was "a good weight for him" either ! The Klitshko fight is by far his best win.
He was alot heavier vs Povetkin so I don't think that's the case. He seemed to gas vs Parker and I think at his age he is coming in lighter for the purpose of lasting to the late rounds... Probably hoping Joshua tires.
If Takam can survive the first 3/4 rounds and work the body a hell of a lot then he's got a chance. A small one, but a chance nonetheless.
Yup. Those bulging muscles burn up oxygen double time. Takam won't give him rest breaks like Klitschko either. If Carlos pulls it off I will LOL. Having said that, AJ has to be the favourite by a large stretch.
This seems a little "all eggs in one basket" to me. If it pays off and he blows Takam out early then that's great, he'll set a good benchmark against Takam's losses to Povetkin and Parker. But if he doesn't get Takam out early and gases then he'll be up **** creek without a paddle.
