is duhapaus exceptable to give a title shot as a free bee for joshua ...before he fights ibf number 1 one man between parker v takam ...is duhapaus an exceptable to give a title shot sinc ehe knocked out helinuis and took wilder a long haul before being stopped ...? joshua v duhapaus in may excabtable ? as a title 1st defence on such short notice ?
It's a fine fight for Joshua. Quick turnaround, if true (which I'm inclined to doubt). It's just not an acceptable "world championship" fight. Why not? Because Duhapaus doesn't deserve to fight for a world title, just like he didn't against Wilder. But it is what it is. And the HW division is what it is. So it won't be quite as bad as many others out there but it certainly will make hypocrites out of some Joshua fanboys/Wilder haters. So that alone ought to be fun.
The bottom line is that, aside from Wlad/Fury/Povetkin/Wilder/Joshua, what really separates any of the other HW's from each other? Sad as it is, Duhaupus is probably among a short list of worthy opponents (if no other reason than a reward for silencing all the delusional Helenius believers out there). We'd be silly to ignore the Wilder-common-opponent angle that the broadcast team and promoters will clearly push. And I suppose he is one of Europes' best. Fury-Wladimir is already signed, Povetkin-Wilder is already signed... Just like that, the other 4 fighters in the "HW top tier" are tied up. I guess I'm on board. Because I have to be.
fury is busy with wlad...wilder is busy with povetkin ...haye is busy with briggs and chisora is busy with pulev,,,,parker is busy with takam..ortiz is busy with ustinov ...so who is a respectable 1st defence for joshua who arent the above mentioned because they are in other fights and joshua has a may date set ,,,who should it be if not duhapaus ? malik the quitman scott ? no way ? who ?
When you put it like that then maybe Stiverne for the simple fact that he went the distance with Wilder so there should be rounds for Joshua and another measuring stick of his power.
Given the other top guys are all busy this summer I can see AJ and Hearn getting even more stick regardless of their choice of opposition in their voluntaries. Stiverne in June/July probably makes the most sense, he's the only guy to take Wilder the distance and has some credit in the bank (albeit not much) as a durable former WC. Duhaupas and Wach would provide a similar experience for him but wouldn't help Hearn market his cash cow in North America as much as Stiverne. Winner of Chisora/Pulev would be a likely choice for a clash in the fall as the winner would be considered a legitimate fringe level fighter and it would mean one less mandatory in 2017.
TBA doesn't have a chance vs Joshua. Joshua is a top 10 ATG HW at the moment. I give Wilder even less a chance than TBA because the way to beat him is just to Crack his chin with a jab the first minute
Hearn said it will be an American heavyweight as they have just signed a deal with showtime for Aj. Jennings or Scott it will be.
