The legacy was badly tarnished after the Fury stinker - the Josh fight was to rectify the damage.

Personally, the Clit will feel he blew the AJ fight and knows he can beat him.

Nothing to lose now as the legacy has been pumped anyway.

I'm not always convinced by legacies being tarnished by a few end of career defeats, not in the long run anyway. Roy Jones Junior, Mike Tyson, Ali, Eubank...(I'm sure the wealth of knowledge on this board can come up with tons more examples) all carried on a bit too long but are remembered for being class fighters.

Another Klitschko defeat won't tarnish a career of domination. We all recognise that this isn't a prime Klitschko.

Not now. Eddie just tweeted that Boente has told him Wlad is retiring.

Shame, being selfish I would have loved to see a rematch.

Also a bit sad that it has taken this long for Wlad to confirm. Maybe there was something in the deal he didn't like?

Vlad had a difficult time making the decision. He watched the fight, knew what he did wrong, though he could win the rematch, but simply said he just no longer had the fire inside him.............both Vitali and Vlad are very rich, they have money to burn, so why take a chance of getting brain damage, let Joshua take that chance as he is still young. Vlad Vs. Joshua was the biggest heavyweight fight out there, but now Joshua will have to fight Ortiz and Pulev, two fighters Wilder refused to fight. Joshua should go ahead and knock Wilder out ASAP, to get rid of that fraud once and for all, but Wilder will never fight Joshua for any amount of money, hell, Hearn can't even get Widler to fight Whyte! Why does Joshua have to fight Pulev and Ortiz? Wilder does not have to fight anyone but winos from the alley!
