Joshua: Lennox was a beast in the ring, but I don't respect him as a man

Like I said, Anthony NEVER questioned Lennox's boxing skills or his achievements. He just don't like his persona which is understandable considering the fact that Lewis always talked the sh1t about him (and about Klitschko brothers before him).

Here is the article from another site:

Anthony Joshua explained why he recently lashed out and called Hall of Famer and former undisputed heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis "a clown."

During a televised special for Sky Sports, Joshua took his verbal swipes at Lewis - who responded back on social media.

Joshua claims that Lewis never guided him or provided advice - and instead criticized him at every turn.

After Joshua suffered his first career defeat back in June, when he was stopped by Andy Ruiz in seven rounds, Lewis took to social media and advised the young fighter to stop chasing money and to retain a new head trainer.

Joshua is currently on a media tour to promote his December 7th rematch with Ruiz, who holds the IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO heavyweight titles.

“I think everyone has been the underdog at some stage, you always have doubters. With the bad-guy thing, I always just say ‘I am what I am’. I don’t really say that much, but if you keep on poking me and poking me into a corner then I am going to bark and bite back," Joshua said.

“I am not a confrontational type of person, I keep myself to myself, but if you keep prodding me then I am going to spark back one of these days. Lennox was not a clown for his boxing, the man is a beast for his boxing, we have his photos all over my gym. When we talk about boxing, I respect that but when we sit around the table as men I only talk about wanting to appreciate the younger generation but I feel when it comes to me he’s different.

“He seemed to be saying ‘Anthony is dodging someone, he’s this or that’ and I just wondered why he is always attacking me, rather than reaching out and helping me, when I needed it. Lewis doesn’t really reach out, Lewis has never reached out. I went to Jamaica to see Lewis when I first wanted to turn professional.

“He had plans for the heavyweight division and he had plans for what he wanted to do with me but I don’t think they worked with what I wanted to do so I didn’t go down that route. The only times I have ever heard from Lewis since has been via the internet and stuff like that.

“Someone who takes the time to call me, and isn’t really into the internet stuff so much, is Wladimir Klitschko. He calls and advises me and is not interested in he doesn’t do it for hits on the internet, he just calls me, man-to-man and tells me what I should be doing and I appreciate that.”

Lewis trashed the Klitschkos, he jumped on the Haye bandwagon then said he was too small, then he had beef with Fury, now he does with Joshua.

Fact is, it's become a habit with him.

Joshua is right, you have to respect Lewis for his achievements but he's not a very pleasant person and he does seem almost constantly bitter at the newer generation which is in stark contrast to someone like Big George who is like a surrogate dad to the new generation.

Evander is a good judge of character and has said Lewis is a very unpleasant fellow who makes his skin crawl.

Anybody who knows the sport knows that Lennox Lewis has had more to say about Joshua and Matchroom than just honest criticism or advice. Anybody who has listened knows Lennox has been throwing knives at Joshua with one hand whilst gripping a PBC cheque in the other. We can tell the difference. So screw Lennox Lewis he is a paid up PBC employee who has been speaking ill of Joshua whilst defending Wilders ducking.

    Same.

Also to those who will get triggered, achievements have 0 to do with character.

Just listen to his post fight ringside interviews against McCall, Rahman and Vitali. He never praises his opponent and is full of excuses. He is almost childlike in this regard.

The bodybuilder needs to start respecting people. Because he got his ass whooped by a short obese 19 stone man. Lewis was trying to help him. Deontay and the bomb squad are less forgiving.

I know what the issue with Lewis is about AJ, it's the down right jealousy. He is not happy AJ is loved by all those white Brits. Same thing that eats up Wilder who has zero support from Americans - well white Americans that is. It was Lewis who called Bruno a much loved Brit an 'uncle Tom' . I remember Lewis vs Bruno and the song Lewis picked for his ring entrance. Bob Marleys "Crazy Baldheads" ...... "We gonna chase those crazy Baldheads out of town" baldheads = slave masters in Jamaica.

So yeah it goes a lot deeper than many understand - explains why Lewis and Wilder are best buddies they share something in commmon lmao!

For the most part all heavy weight champs were questioned throughout their careers. They retire, then get the respect. Not fair, but it is what it is.

Who cares about whom this phony respects. He admires people like Mugabe enough said. If I was in Lewis' place, I wouldn't want to be respected by him either.

Yes, childish and insecure. Strange for a guy who achieved so much in the sports.

Joshua turned down an offer from Lennox after the Olympics and he's held that against AJ ever since. Now he takes pleasure in the Ruiz downfall. Childish mentality.

Passing down the tips and tricks of the trade is an a age old boxing tradition. I recall seeing a video of Lennox showing Wilder how to throw a stepping jab on a ramdom street somewhere in Alabama. Lennox has his chips down.

l have never heard Lennox truly criticize Joshua except when it came time to make the Wilder fight. Ever! So what Joshua gets a call from Wlad. The criticism that Lennox had for Joshua over the Wilder fiasco was warranted.

I find it quite funny that Wlad fans are agreeing with and siding with Joshua.
