This is exactly the reason Joshua holds all the cards in negotiations. Hearn recently touched on this exact subject, stating something along the lines of Wilder's options looking poor without Joshua.

Wilder got to where he is now by fighting practically nothing except poor options. I doubt he cares. His opponent won't be near as good as Povetkin if Wilder/Johsua doesn't happen next.

Maybe similar to the Wlad fight but agree with the guys saying Povetkin will not let up easily. Povetkin is a finisher. If he smells blood, night night "Ant"ony

joshua can easily follow wlad's gameplan - keep povetkin at bay with his reach and tie him up on the inside

he was doing it to parker already so he can easily follow through with povetkin; don't forget povetkin is 38 likely 39 before this fight will be made

There's always a risk from delaying big fights that one or both of the proposed fighters loses. Povetkin is past his best, but he's a puncher and still very dangerous, he's no worse a threat to Joshua as Ortiz was to Wilder and we all saw how close that fight was. Joshua will definitely be tested against Povetkin.

Wilder himself could lose vs Breazeale. I think people are overlooking the risk Breazeale poses. Breazeale is crude and easy to hit which doesn't usually bode well for a Widler opponent, but he's also the most durable fighter Wilder has fought to date. DB is tough can take a shot and be hurt and still come back we saw that vs Mansour and Ugonoh and even Joshua had to take his foot off the pedal after dropping him early as it was clear Breazeale wasn't going to fold easily.

I think DB's durability, heart, size and power are as much a threat to Wilder as Povetkin poses to Joshua. Wilder is flawed enough to get rocked and hurt by smaller men, Breazeale with his size and power might give Wilder a far tougher fight than expected.

So yes both are taking a risk of losing by delaying the fight and if one loses they are throwing away a big payday. But if Joshua loses he has a lucrative rematch and will still be a PPV fighter in the UK making many millions per fight. Wilder will struggle if he loses, without a belt he loses much of his marketability and he'll need to prove himself again if he wants a shot at Joshua or Povetkin or whoever holds a belt and those paydays will take a dramatic drop.

Wilder is scared to death of Povetkin, Povetkin would knock Wilder out. Povetkin fight with Wilder should be ordered since Ryabinskiy won the purse bid, then VADA made a mistake, but very soon after VADA cleared Povetkin, however, Haymon would not allow the WBC to order the fight, then Povetkin was found innocent in court, yet WBC will not order the fight. Haymon is their boss, they must protect Wilder at all costs. Povetkin could be a problem for Joshua, we just don't know since Haymon and the WBC have tried to destroy his career.............

OK on paper, I would say no, considering that Klitschko beat Povetkin quite comfortably on points. But this is the beauty of HW boxing, it doesn't work like that!!! Povetkin has been a dark horse for the last 2-3 years. He can bang with anyone.

I TRULY have no idea why Povetkin is rated so highly. Because of some Brutal knockouts against bums when he was on PED'S?

Wladamir Klitschko showed how easy it was for a world class superheavyweight to shud down a PRIME povetkin

And this isn't a prime povetkin, his feet are GONE. And his stamina ain't far behind.

Joshua will just do what he did to Parker for 5-6 rounds then start letting the righ hand go when povetkins tired old lungs start falling out of his ass

    Mark my words:

Joshua will EASILY beat povetkin then all the after timers will say "nobody ever said pivetkin had a chance against joshua we all KNEW he was shot"

If he wants a big pay day he will care, which was the point really.

The risk depends on if Joshua takes it lightly. Povetkin's pretty much on Parker's level. I don't expect him to go into survival mode though, he'll try to make a fight of it, and the bodybuilder we'll probably lose his temper and put him down multiple times. Expect a slightly premature mercy stoppage, with a balded headed referee telling the Russian that he's taken enough punishment! Eddie will get booed, and then hastily go backstage to count his cash in his secret safe. While he laughs at the sky's sports coverage, on the tv, lol!

Deontay Wilder's in London to get this fight made, and he's travelling in style! 11 seconds in.
