Joshua competing in 13 heavyweight title fights and winning nine of them will be difficult for any Brit to surpass.

Old Pulev, old Povetkin, ancient Klitschko, past it Takam, demolished by fat late replacement Ruiz, beat an even fatter Ruiz. Oh but he beat Parker doe !!!

    An insurmountable legacy

    Pretty much, yeah.

If you include Lennox Lewis, Joshua is probably the second- or third-best heavyweight in British history.

13 heavyweight title fights are nothing to sneeze at, I don't care who the competition is.

Like I said, these have been heady days for the Brits. But let's not pretend Joshua's accomplishments didn't blow the doors off compared to nearly every Brit who came before (or after) him.

Throwing out names like Moses Ituama isn't hard. Throughout history, fans have been excited about many British heavyweights. But how many heavyweight title fights did Frank Bruno have or WIN? How about Tyson Fury? Henry Cooper? Don Cockell? Bob Fitzsimmons? Daniel Dubois? Herbie Hide? Henry Akinwande? Scott Welch? Dillian Whyte? Joe Joyce? Joe Bugner? Jack Bodell? Audley Harrison? David Haye? Bruce Woodcock? Tommy Farr? David Price? Richard Dunn? Matt Skelton? Danny Williams? Gary Mason? David Adeleye? Frazier Clarke? Hughie Fury? Sam Sexton? Nathan Gorman? Julius Francis? James Oyebola? Horace Notice? Neville Meade? Joe Erskine? Fainting Phil Scott? Gunner Moir? Bombardier Billy Wells? And on. And on. And on.

It sure as hell wasn't 13. Another British heavyweight may not even attend 13 heavyweight title fights this century, let alone fight in that many.

Because you had a couple close together, don't just assume the "next great" British heavyweight will suddenly appear when one goes away.

That may be it for a long time.

You always hear the great boxers and trainers say that boxing is 9.5/10 mental. Imo AJ is a perfect illustration for anybody that thought these guys were exaggerating or trying to big up the collective boxing intellect. Imo, by the time he got splattered by DuBois, AJ's head was so far up his own ass he couldn't see the punches coming. Refused to believe they existed. He allowed the yes men to persuade him over time. Reminds me a bit of Lacey.

Uh uh uh he don’t throw combinations like Marciano though.
He’s 18 stone , he’s a heavy guy, he’s not skilled, he’s strong, but he doesn’t WANT to be strong.
You AREN’T strong, how did you beat me ? Hip hip, champ champ

It's easy to punch holes in any resume if you want to though. Usyk has only beaten Fury, who went life and death with a cagefighter and got dropped. Dubois, who lost every single round to Joe Joyce before quitting, and has no ring IQ, and AJ, who, by your own judgement, is completely overrated. Once you look at it that way, then Usyk's heavyweight resume is thin.

AJ has anything you'd expect from someone of his caliber. He is as strong and hard-hitting as a 6'6 250 lbs PED-head should be, and as good of a boxer as a gold medalist olympian with a good amateur background should be. His issues are mostly mental, and that's something you either have or don't.

Had Joshua beaten Ruiz and Dubois, I think that would've been him fulfilling his potential. He never beats Usyk. Wilder and Fury were fights that should've happened but didn't, and that's not necessarily on him

There was another undefeated champion in the division who very well may have beat him. Their proposed fight had very close odds. They didn't fight. He was not the best. A 1a and 1b situation for a very short time before Fury reemerged.

Then Fury should probably fight him. I'll be holding my breath.

AJ is the modern day Nas. Hugely overrated in his pomp but criminally underappreciated now. I don't know what it is about him but he always brings out the spiteful casuals who dksab. He's polarizing to say the least.

He has some devastating losses but has a good resume and fought all comers outside of Wilder (and we'll never know why that fight wasn't made). Whyte, Takam, Klitchko, Ruiz, Parker, Povetkin, Usyk, DDD...That resume p*sses over every other British HW other than Chisora and with a way better strike rate.

AJ has been a huge force and a net positive to British boxing that cannot be denied.
