I don’t know why but if I had to bet my life on this I’d go with AJ. It’s a gut instinct. I think he’s going to one punch KO Ruiz which defies all logic since Ruiz took his punches last time. Like I said just a gut feeling. Think this could be a legendary comeback performance from AJ.
It's a great fight as all outcomes are viable. I'll bet on Ruiz only because he's good odds but I'm torn who wins this. Will AJ crumble again? Was Ruiz's temple shot a lucky punch? Does Ruiz have AJ's number? Was AJ under-prepared? Most intriguing fight in years, not based on skill but all the narrative's involved and questions that will be answered. Can't wait.
To my observant eye AJ could be a mentally shot to pieces fighter right here, right now. He is all over the script , check his party line since their last fight and see how much it has changed. if my cod psychology degree I cut out of the back of a box of coco pops is worth anything, then I diagnose AJ with acute denial and delusional grandiosity towards the tubby little Mexican fella. this can ONLY end one way when he is face to face with the little fat lad again and reality trumps delusion; with AJs glass jaw smashed to bits and his big stiff pumped up weightlifting frame sprawling about on the canvas again he COULD pull an Oliver McCall type in ring breakdown and quit like a dog but I would wager his abysmal mandible to get vaporised by a big flabby left to end his career in brutal fashion
If it wasn't AJ and the great PR with frenzied fans immediate conspiracy theories then you wouldn't think any of those at all. You would just think one boxer was far better than the other. It's all very clever, WWE style narrative selling. Matchroom are the best at it.
I have to say watching AJ in a recent clip he looks focused and in incredible shape, not too big but slick and fast looking. It looks like he has pushed himself to the limit. I pick Ruiz because he showed he could hurt AJ and take the punches back, but you can’t rule out this kind of determination. I’m seeing it closer than I did before now, the closer it gets. The main concern is AJ’s punch resistance once he gets clipped and the fact Ruiz has a decent chin, has AJ had enough time to prepare for keeping Ruiz off him?
My response to Smith would be.... They may pay more for PPV but they get far more for their money when they buy their pizza to watch it. This evens the nights spending out. Pizza and PPV is now the infamous comparison isn’t it? In America they aren’t ripped off with portion sizes and sugar being taken out of everything.
I’m rooting for AJ cos ever since he lost people have been jumping off the bandwagon saying he was never any good. And people will be jumping straight back on it if he wins. Not anyone in particular on these boards, but people I know personally and professionally. I’m not at all confident that he will win, but I hope he does it. And I’m liking this new talk from him. It’s about time he dropped the humble act and started dishing it out. Makes him much more interesting.
This content is protected They should have given this fella whatever he wanted for sparring, would have been money well spent. Stylistically he is so similar to Ruiz and small in stature, too. Joshua couldn’t handle it then and he couldn’t handle it 8 years later. I appreciate he’s a southpaw but would have been good work that.
Just need to teach joshua how to actually fight now. Like they,ve spent his whole development on the boxing smart. At some point at that top level sometimes you need to fight it out. Joshua wasnt quite prepared for it against ruiz. He gave it a go....as he does but it takes more than just your fighters instinct. Looks like their preparing for it more...more competetive sparring etc. Prepare him for a firefight. Sometimes just boxings not enough. Furys had to fight it out. Wilders had to fight it out. Joshuas never really had to do it...i think its been an oversight in his development to an extent. Hes had to do it in a few fights but to me its just been his fighting heart as opposed to say they,d prepared for it.
