Rematch clauses for non title fights are so corny. Just go on with your career or retire or whatever or make the rematch if people want to see it.

if whyte beats Joshua nobody is gonna wanna see a rematch they're gonna want AJ to retire.

Some northerners have even wanted AJ to retire since around 2017

But, yeah, the rematch clauses are getting daft. First we had promoters inserting one in for every world champion. Then we had Hearn and Warren inserting them for interim champions to protect mandatory status.

Even if Joshua is a big name, he doesn't have a belt. So a rematch clause is frankly ridiculous. It would be nice if the BBBoC and other orgs would step in to not sanction fights if clauses in the contract were damaging for the sport.

Of course they'd make this fight that most don't want. Of all the good fights out there, AJ takes the safe route fighting someone he already beat and who has looked like crap recently. Way to take the bull by the horns.

HW just giving us inactivity or recycled fights for money.

If Whyte beats AJ, retirement would be the smartest move for him after how easily Fury beat Whyte. For a start, a loss to Whyte would cost AJ this talked about fight with Wilder in December. Trying to get a rematch with Whyte would really be his only way forward if he chose to continue.

Whyte gets his head jabbed off by anyone taller than him with a pulse

AJ dog fought him in their first bout and won despite bieng a poor dog fighter

Whyte plus Wilder would be a great second half of 2023 for Joshua.

I think it goes the same way as the first fight. AJ is bigger and will find Whyte's glass chin first.

I am actually glad it is happening as the heavyweight division has had nothing to get excited about this year with Fury playing stupid games which has also caused Usyk to be inactive. Anderson was exposed, Wilder and Ruiz is taking forever to get done. At least AJ and Whyte are fighting and it will likely end by KO.

I don’t think Joshua Whyte will happen, and the blame lies with Whyte. He exclusively leaked to Sky Sports that he “signed the contract” but in fact this wasn’t the entire contract, most notably the PPV rights.

I expect them to run out of time since August 12 is fast approaching and Agit Kabayel to be announced. Not a great fight but since it looks like Joshua will fight Wilder in December / January, I’m not mad at all and look forward to seeing Joshua regain more confidence under Derrick James.

Did Hearn see the Whyte fight as too big a risk to AJ losing his supposed Wilder fight in December and low balled and screwed Whyte around to make it look like they wanted him when they didn't?

It wasn't long back that Hearn was quoted as saying if they had the Wilder fight the preceding fight would be someone other than Whyte.

Was a poor opponent for Fury and its an even worse opponent now for AJ.

    Disappointing.

Yep even a safety first cautious AJ will eventually land a flush power shot and it will be night night Dillian Whyte.

Whyte doesn't like the rematch clause now it's not an eliminator with Povetkin where he gets KO'd.
