Since so much is made of glass jaws on here let's actually go by the general forum criteria and see who's actually packing glass ACCORDING to the criteria used and that's even just getting wobbled ? Lol But were going to see now who actually managed to stay on their feet and I even included opponents weight and number of career knockouts the adversaries had . 1. Sonny Liston : Knocked down in his 7th fight against Marty Marshal weighing 180 who had 23 wins 11 by K.O. 2. Jack Dempsey : knocked down in his 10th fight against Johnny Sudenberg weighing at LHW status who had 9 wins 3 by K.O. 3. Muhammed Ali : knocked down in his 11th fight against Sonny Banks weighing 191 who had 18 wins 14 by K.O. 4. Joe Frazier : knocked down in his 12th fight against Oscar Bonevena weighing 205 who had 58 wins 44 by K.O. 5. Joe Louis : knocked down in his 25th fight against Max Schmelling weighing 192 who had 56 wins 44 by K.O. 6. Wlad Klitchko : knocked down in his 25th fight against Ross Purity weighing 250 who had 31 wins 27 by K.O. 7. Lennox Lewis : knocked down in his 26th fight against Oliver McCall weighing 231 who had 57 wins 37 by K.O. 8. Larry Holmes : knocked down in his 27th fight against Ernie Shavers weighing 210 who had 89 wins 68 by K.O. 9. Mike Tyson : knocked down in his 38th fight against Buster Douglas weighing 231 who had 38 wins 25 by K.O. 10. Rocky Marciano : knocked down in his 43rd fight against Joe Walcott weighing 196 who had 51 wins 32 by K.O. ANTHONY JOSHUA : knocked down in his 19th fight against Wlad Klitchko weighing 240 who had 64 wins 53 by K.O. The only one exceeding the size of Klitchko in weight here is Purity who THEN fought a 225 Klitchko . Klitchko was 15 pounds heavier against Joshua...do the math. Joshua's knock down is the only substantiated real SHW knockdown from a elite fighter that is outweighing some guys on here by as much as 60 pounds. Joshua was rocked doe? Joshua was dropped doe? Dillian Whyte himself was 247 with an 85% k.o percentage. Are you sure Joshua is packing glass? Almost half the guys on here are below 200 pounds that caused knockdowns! Man these double standard threads are fun !
His chin hasn't got better since he was an amateur he's just a more accomplished fighter now. It's a testament to his improvements that he's not been dropped more.
Joshua was floored and stopped in a relatively short amateur career, and floored as a pro in the gym by Price, Wlad and Dobois...that we have heard. His chin is average. Not good or bad, but average, and like most heavyweights suspect to punchers.
It's not the Price, Wlad or even Dubois drops that worry me though - Dubois may well be a big puncher and the other two certainly are - it's more a case of him being dropped and later rocked by Dillian Whyte who has never made a dent in anyone else of any real note.
His chin is ok, he can be hurt with one punch plus not many are as big or bigger than him. Both recent heavyweight great in Lennox and Wlad has average chin, but it doesn't stop them to be a force.
He may well do. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he were to be stopped by a less than murderous puncher with world level skill.
Gal, makes a good point all these top fighters getting dropped by guys in the 180's, and 90's, imagine the pounding a 210 pound usyk would put on joshua
Well any guy 180+ who can punch is going to be able to hurt much heavier men. If some of the current LHW's were to land clean on the their heavyweight counterparts I have no doubt that they'd hurt them.
oliver mccall 1st knockdown 2065 aged 100 v a lorry when he crossed a road while not looking at what was coming his way. he got back up at the count of 3 and carried on his way.
Not many many fighters would have got up from Wlad's punch. Nothing wrong with Joshua's chin imho. But he does have stamina problem . Needs to lose some muscle.
Aj was hit hard.I think his chin is just above average.A good chin is not just if you go down, but how you recover.I know Wlad didn't pounce on AJ,but AJ showed a big heart as well.
AJ doesn't have a glass jaw, he took some big shots well before he went down. the problem is the muscle. he gets tired too easily and is susceptible to being taken out then. imagine Wilder in the position Klitschko was in, I think he would've taken him out of there, as would Klitschko if not for the advice to take it easy
Agreed. There was one later on in the fight that snapped Joshuas head right back, another shot that would've knocked another out. I think he showed a fairly decent chin in that fight.
