Eddie Hearn has revealed the backup plan for Anthony Joshua's next fight in December should they fail to agree a match against Tyson Fury.

Hearn says he wants to choose a serious opponent for the next match against Joshua, Filip Hrgovic is among the potential candidates.

Hearn's potential candidates for the match against AJ are: Filip Hrgovic, Zhilei Zhang and Otto Wallin.

If Hrgovic was not exposed by zhang.... he was very very close to be exposed by zhang. He has lost a lot of his aura, and he has won only god knows how much brain damage in this fight.

His jaw is Tier 1 jaw, though, no doubt about it.

Then proceeds to name a guy who got exposed by a guy who had kidney failure, liver issues and anemia prior.

Classic Eddie Hearn trying to put lipstick on a pig.

High risk - low reward. No way Joshua fights Hrgovic next.

The guy who has looked the worse by far is Otto Wallin. The Hrgovic-Zhang fight was great. Wallin has looked awful in his recent fights.

If Joshua decides to go for an opponent who will help him get his confidence back, Wallin is the guy. He can't punch his way out of a wet paper bag. He's only stopped half of the mediocre guys he's defeated. I'm not even sure he beat Sokolowski.

Smart one. Joshua knocks Hrgovic out clean.

Not sure about that - Zhang hits like a mule and Hrgovic took a good few bombs in that fight!

That said Hrgovic also looked like he didn't want to be in the ring at times, and AJ could possibly capitalise on those lapses more than Zhang did

Joshua is way more explosive and the shots you don't see coming are hurting the most. Joshua would take his head clean off. And i'm not a huge Joshua fan at all. Hrgovic is terrible.

Joshua vs Hrgovic makes no sense for either fighter

Hearn wouldn’t cash in Hrgovic now when he’s still (officially) undefeated and is the IBF mandatory. Hearn will keep Hrgovic busy with low risk fights to keep him undefeated until he eventually gets his shot at the IBF champion (which could be years)

And Hrgovic is totally unknown to casuals. I think Joshua beats Hrgovic easily for the record, but regardless the risk that Hrgovic represents is nowhere near worth the reward. The Whyte rematch makes much more sense for AJ: much lower risk, much higher reward fight

Hrgovic was showing some weird body language in that fight…like looking down at the canvas and then kind of looking off into the distance like he thought the round was over, only to let Zhang get an open shot on him. A couple times I almost thought he was going to turn his back on Zhang and walk in the opposite direction. But then a few seconds later he would fight back and seem fine. I wonder if he perhaps got a concussion early in the fight.

Joshua might want Hrgovic just for a third go at Usyk. I'd be really happy to see him fight Zhang, though.

I agree, Zhang would make for an interesting matchup.

And it would be nice to see Zhang receive a good payday before he gets too old.

I personally believe that Zhang has what it takes to knock out Joshua, and with the fight with Hrgovic he gained additional experience...
