Yeah, that's the most impressive part - he was blasting out top guys in that fashion and that quickly
Yes. And you can see from that video the tactics he employed against Belly were very different. Hence why he was able to really throw Belly off his game. It will be interesting to see how he comes out against AJ It was very impressive He's taking it very seriously and the learning curve doesn't get much steeper. The good thing is despite his advanced age, as you say, he's earning big money right off the bat and that's a huge incentive I think AJ should stop him but if he cracks AJ flush he does possess the power to stop him so that makes it intriguing ''Pork belly slice''
So i just watched miocic v ngannu. First two rounds where quite good and interesting. But then the thing that puts me off about that MMA lark started as that stipe fella started holding continuously when he was clearly gonna get chinned. Awful stuff but it did make me wonder is he the huggy Haney of UFC? Think Francis made the right decisions anyway.
The only niggle I had with Ngannou ( considering it was his debut bout) against pork belly was that he didn't jump on belly slice immediately after he put him down. In fact he kinda held back...I know there wasn't long left in the round, but I thought his MMA instinct would have kicked in ( more so I think that now after watching his killer instinct in the clips you posted). and he would have instinctively gone for it with out even thinking... It's also interesting that Ngannou considers AJ's orthodox boxing style more suitable for himself than Fury's jerky jerky style. He claims AJ is easier to read. We'll have to wait and see, squire.
Stipe was a KO machine himself, he was coming off of 4 first round KO wins leading up to that fight. Ngannou himself actually employed a wrestling heavy gameplan in his last UFC fight when he faced Gane who was a very formidable striker. The grappling isnt for everyone I guess. That combination of striking and grappling is what makes MMA unique though.
That's called bieng a professional VETERAN fighter Most people would get an adrenaline dump and try to end Fury and would fail, then feel 280 pounds of man tits crush down on them. Everyone who has put Fury down felt his wrath shortly after. Francis not because he fought smart. Only niggle with Francis was he didn't up his output late fight...but half of his goal was to make the distance. He did have his mouth open even though he didn't look tired he was feeling it a little.
Ngannou's open and honest on preferring going 10 rounds only, he's admitted that was his preference for both the belly slice fight and the upcoming AJ fight. That's also two rounds less for AJ to gas out too.
AJ & Francis are both experienced enough to manage their stamina. However if one or the other makes it into a dogfight either one of them could be a sitting duck. Feet in cement blocks. The tougher more game man will win...that's Francis.
Yes, he boxed a much more tactical and cerebral fight than not only I and Team Belly were expecting but than everyone was expecting and even after dropping Belly he didn't deviate from the game plan. I expected to see the Dane aggressive knock your head of version we saw in MMA but his team which includes some very good MMA trainers and strategists also knew that's exactly what Team Belly were expecting too. But he could've gone for broke after the KD for sure Yeah that is interesting. The old slick elusive and much more mobile Belly pre Dosser II would've caused Ngannou nightmares but even this aggressive Kronk Belly is still slicker and more difficult to read than AJ Indeed, squire
Fair enough mate bit similar to holding in boxing though right? but much more prolonged. Ngannu definitely lookef more like a boxer to me though feet, movement etc even the stance looked more side on and not as square.
Aye he said it himself that he knew he wasn't that hurt and it would have been stupid to try and go for the finish. Maybe he learned that against that miocic fella when he looked like he punched himself out in round one.
I'm really hoping this does boil down to a dogfight. Both have big power. But one has a better chin....
Yeah definitely. Even though he'd never boxed before he'd been in the position where he was exhausted in a fight after being too gung-ho
