Parker has never been down. Does he have a real shot? Here is the latest news- http://www.newshub.co.nz/home/sport...t-anthony-joshua-edges-closer-to-reality.html
I think Parker will be competitive. His hand speed and the fact Joshua stands in front of opponents too much will really favour Parker's lead first style and allow him to throw the type of combinations he did against Cojanu, that he couldn't do against the negative Fury. But I think Joshua's power, counter punching and inside skills will be the difference. Parker will get off first but Joshua will be the one finishing the exchanges the stronger and eventually he'll force Parker to be more defensive and force him on to the back foot where he won't be able to set to throw his combo's. I'm thinking an 8-4 rounds decision for Joshua.
Parker wants to fight Joshua, will probably only get 35%, if lucky, he is not a prima donna like Wilder who wants 50/50. Of course Wilder and Haymon do not want to fight Joshua, Wilder just runs his mouth, will never fight a legit opponent.....................will be fighting Breazeale next, another Haymon fighter who can't fight at all, knocked out by Joshua. Not mandatory, yet Whyte, Ruiz, Povetkin, Ortiz, Miller and many others can't get that chicken fraud into a ring, if a good fighter does get Wilder to sign, Wilder will sign only for looks, a coverup, if they are a threat, they will be framed or perhaps paid to take a dive.............
I hope it happens, because when all the belts got shattered around again after it took Wlad years and years to collect them, I thought it would take at least 5 years to unify them again. If this happens next, it took actually half of that time due to Joshi's star power and the money that comes with it. And of course it's actually a good fight too.
There seems to be a big difference between Parker and Wilder. Parker seems to actually want the fight and is willing to make concessions to get it done while Wilder has unrealistic demands and is happy to keep fighting easier fights at home.
Yeah Parker clearly wants the fight, they've showed a genuine willingness to make concessions. I think the difference is Parker genuinely thinks he can win unlike Wilder and while it's a risky fight Parker's team haven't been scared of taking risks. When Parker fought Takam people thought that was a risky fight that might have come too soon or at least it was too much of a jump up in class from the level of opposition he had been facing prior. Same with the Fury fight, people saying it was a tricky style match up and that he could get robbed in the UK but they still agreed to fight Hughie in the UK at the chance of a better payday. Parker and his handlers are willing to take risks while Wilder and his team have been content to just hold onto the belt for as long as they can, which Haymon has often done with other fighters. Haymon fighters simply don't take risks like when Quillin chose to dump the belt rather than face Korobov or when Stevenson ducked the Kovalev fight and moved to Showtime.
Don't think the bodybuilder Joshua should worry about keeping his KO ratio intact, in this fight. Think this fight will go the distance, arguably against a top level opponent in his prime. Anthony better make sure he's not over 250lbs again, looked very slow.
I will give Joshua props if he takes this fight because it means he's acting like a champion and not picking soft touches, which he has before. The fight can happen if Wilder won't fight Joshua. Parker has a shot to upset. Joshua's chin is just okay, and he seems to take his foot off the gas a bit in the later rounds. I'd pick Joshua though to win a 7-4-1 type of fight.
Talks have stalled. Sky sports UK because Joshua wont go to 65 35 even though parker already wemt from 60 40 . Pure greed Joshua. Why not take 65percent make loads money if wins has another belt. He is goin on he wants leave a legacy be like Federer. Yet 5 percent more he won' fight joke
Not sure if it is pure greed on the part of Hearn/Joshua or they don't want to fight Parker. There is no honour either way.
Joshua's claim to greatness as a heavy will be determined in the next couple of years. Needs to get the alphabet unification fights done next year (i.e. Parker & Wilder). Then move onto the lineal title & maybe a top contender or two (Fury & Usyk). That's ATG status right there. What's he waiting for?
What's he waiting for is what he should be being asked every time someone thrusts a microphone under his nose. Hearn has been boasting that Joshua has already made his money and set himself up for life, and that now it is all about the boxing legacy he creates. Fine words, but that simply not what is happening. Legacy involves fighting Parker and Wilder for the remaining titles not collecting easy money fighting low risk, second tier opposition.
