According to Doug Fischer, if Tyson Fury doesn't schedule a fight until february 1st, he will be stripped of his belt and the fight between AJ and JP could very well be for the ring title.

The UK should make Tyson a lineal belt. It is a british sport after all. When UK guys grab a lineal they should get something to show for it from a royal and the UK government. Now all Tyson has is words and memories.

What do you mean? Recognize how?

It's kind of my thing to dig up title holders no one knows about, explain their story, and explain their title. I'd imagine if ring existed in 1820 I'd be digging up ring champs to explain the ring belt and it's lineage.

You can't give a guy the Ring belt and call him the champion or lineal champion based on what the lineal champion ISN'T doing.

Nobody recognizes the lineal title historians so it's all good.

Ring and Lineal are two entirely different things bud. Ring doesn't control lineal, lineal is controlled by tradition and precedence.

Tyson wouldn't even be close to the most egregious case of a lineal champion retaining his status after retirement based on nothing but claim.

My point is made if you don't want to read on, but if you're curious here's how lineal actually works:

The only way lineal is passed in retirement is by acknowledgment. Tyson has to acknowledge the next champion while he's retired or remain retired for the next champion to be the lineal champion. Don't get me wrong there is no limitation on time. If Tyson fights he is the lineal champion, if he doesn't then the winner between AJ-JP is. If Lennox came out of retirement he'd be the lineal champion.

It's one of the reasons they brought Jim Jefferies out of retirement. He had the position to make the Hart, Burns, and Johnson reigns invalid. Had the great white hope succeeded he'd've washed any indication on a black champion in 1908 from lists like the one you see on boxrec or wiki and you'd read Jeffries reigned from 1899 to 1908 at least.

When you look at lists like Cyber Boxing Zone's English Bare Knuckle Champions and you see a long reign that sticks out what happened more than likely is a champion came out of retirement and nerf'd another man's reign without even fighting him. Lineal is one of the traditions from LPRR, it's what connects Queensberry to London rules and is why LPRR is considered boxing and not just some random historical sport.

I've covered a few instances when the retired lineal withheld the title from the next champion for various reasons in classics. Bowen-Burke's a good read.

I only edited some misspellings and typos and such.

Tyson retired numerous times , hasn't fought since 2015 . How is he the ring champion under their guidelines?

The ring title is not the lineal title.
