I personally never held ring in any high regard. It's not like it's inception or purpose or drive has ever been for anything other than promotion. Nat Fleischer was a plagiaristic journalist and Oscar's a coke head....kinda lateral in the world of journalistic integrity.

ODLH is a crook but I care more about the ring title than I do lineal.

 

How does Wilder feel about all this? Will he slaughter the belt because he isn't holding it?


Because the winner of AJ/Parker will hold WBA, WBO, IBF, IBO and Ring Belt..


OK the IBO and Ring Belt are not overly recognised or held in high regard but surely holding all those will drive Wilders % down a couple more points if he wants the winner LOL

I'm not asking to be a dick or rhetorically passive aggressive. I'm honestly curious. Why would you place a promotional title over a traditional one?

 

It may have been different in the past but today lineal does little to tell us who the current best is who who has the best claim to being a divisions current champ. Look at Stevenson. He has held the lineal title hostage from an entirely new generation of fighters from even having a shot at claiming it. What meaning does the title have at this point? The Ring title on the other hand can be stripped. Ward and Kovalev are bigger, more relevant players in the LHW division and the Ring title reflected that. The Lineal did not.

 

I used to subscribe to Ring Mag, but now it is Oscar Mag...................
