I wonder if some lobbying will take place behind the scenes? Either from Hearns / World of Boxing or maybe even a certain interested third party?
I think it should be for the ring belt. Wilder has no intensions of fighting Joshua and Povetkin has better credentials that Wilder. Joshua is the clear #1.
They refused to sanction Joshua/Parker for the Ring belt because the decision makers unanimously decided that Wilder was the de facto #2 HW after beating Ortiz (rightfully so, if you ask me). I can't see them doubling back on that ruling unless they believe Wilder pricing himself out is just cause to go over his head.
Well with Wilder threating to move down to cruiser weight, Ring Magazine can make Povetkin #2 prior to the fight if they wish. Povetkin has a better resume for sure. I hope they do it. No one can say the winner of this match isn't worthy of being the Ring Magazine Champion.
Wow. How anti-Wilder can you be? Highly doubtful Joshua-Povetkin is for the The Ring belt. ANYONE can say Povetkin is not worthy, because he IS NOT worthy for many reasons.
