https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/3453...-Sport-_-TwImageandlink-_-Statement-_-TWITTER I don't see it happening at all. Even if Tyson Fury does return (doubtful), I don't think that he can sustain himself for 3 years without intervening mental, regulatory, legal and/or physical incidents that knock him off track again. If Joshua fights a Fury, it'll likely be Hughie. But, I do think that there's a bit f Hearn's winding up of Fury here.
Good if it is. This fight could be really good, but I question whether Fury actually cares about boxing or just wants the payday. If he wants the payday he'll take it before he should (assuming he gets a license) and won't win - he won't have the stamina and won't be as slick as he was v Wlad.. 1.5 yrs out drinking and doing drugs gaining weight but you see so much talk said it's the 2015 fury we have now. It's not! If Fury does care and gets fit again, he will be everything Joshua hates (great movement good stamina and tall) but Joshua has the power to knock him down meaning if it goes 12 the fight could end up being close due to the knock downs!
Fury has ballooned up in weight between fights before. Maybe not as bad as now but he's done half as bad at least. Hearn can say anything right now. Fury isn't ready to fight, so it's all guesswork. Hearn's basically say he holds the cards, which he does. I believe Fury could be back in 6 months if he's serious. In theory he could be in good shape to have a comeback fight sometime towards the end of this year and depending how he looks then, fight a title-holder 12 months from now if they want him. He's 28 years old. If he's serious he could come back and be something again. It's all on him to do it. Fury should just comeback and fight someone. If he wins, he should fight someone else. Just get back in the action. Keep billing himself as the lineal champion, get some wins. If Hearn wants to keep AJ away from him, so be it. Fury should then chase the guys AJ should be facing.
I agree with almost everything that you write in theory and I agree with your last paragraph in particular. You've described a likely way back, but it is the "hardest way" back and, at this point, I just don't see him having the mental or physical mettle to run that gauntlet. But, that's just an opinion that he might prove wrong, though I think that there are long odds against him. As far as 3 years goes, I reckon that Hearn might actually think the opposite and prefer to get to Tyson Fury much sooner than later for several reasons. Irrespective, you're right in that Hearn holds the cards, near everyone of them.
yeah for Joshua and matchroom a fight v fury in October/November after fury fights a total bum or two would be perfect in my view for them
Yeah, I consider that to be the possible intention behind Hearn's statement. Hearn doesn't really want to wait 3 years for that promotional opportunity. He knows Fury and AJ could lose any time to someone else in the meantime and perhaps effect the magnitude of the fight. He knows Fury's unreliable, Fury could change his attitude and decide not to come back at any time. So he's probably goading Tyson Fury into getting in some sort of shape ASAP and demanding the fight, as a voluntary challenger, so Hearn can get him for Joshua before he's fully fit.
There's too much money to be made (and too many people standing to gain from it) for it not to happen. Specifically the Fury-AJ fight.
Fury needs to come back and prove he's fit to fight first. If I was Joshua I'd want proof he's come back for real and wasn't just going to keep pulling out of the fight last minute.
