Matchroom have already put a poster for the fight on Twitter and it says Sky Sports.

 

Brook Gavin was part of a card that was PPV. The fight itself wasn't. Hardly ever during the promotion did you hear "Tune into Sky Sports Box Office for the huge world title fight between .." etc It was all about the card. Which was worth the £17 quid imo.

 

Big Abdul stated that it was being discussed at Sky.

Absolute farce even with a decent undercard.

 

NO PPV is worth it when people are already paying a subscription for that sport.

Imagine making the Man City v Chelsea title decider PPV - it would be the end for Sky.

People should not buy PPV and the concept will die - Big Abdul's words.

Sky taking people for mugs for too long but the tide has changed with BT ending the monopoly and Sky subscribers cancelling in large numbers this year.

It's 50/50 if this goes PPV I'd imagine. It's not exactly an expensive fight to make so Hearn can't make that excuse. Stacking the undercard may be tricky as well- who could feasibly fill the chief support slot bar Kell Brook (again)?

I posted the Money v Pac PPV 10 days before it was made public and Fury v Klit PPV along with current developments at Sky.

No comeback for Big Abdul as this information is hard to track back.

I will stop spoiling the surprises as it makes no real difference if you know 10-14 days later.

 

1) If you sub to Sky Sports solely for boxing then you're a nut job. Boxing is about 7th on the list of priority sports for Sky. The budget is miniscule in relation to other sports hence the ****e that gets served up on most weeks.

2) Not the same, millions sub to Sky SOLELY for Premier League football. They've already paid for it.

The amount of people who subscribe to Sky just for boxing will be lower than the Boxnation Subcribers. Its just an add on to make the sports package more rounded same as darts etc. Any big fights go on PPV for one reason. Budget requirements.

 

People pay for a multi sports channel including BOXING.

A minor sport yes but Sky are losing subscribers due to the PPV fights and the shyte non PPV cards.

The main reason large numbers of people have cancelled this year is the emergence of BT with more football than Sky and BT prices are much less than Sky.

You just contradicted yourself there PPV boxing or BT, which is it.

Firstly noone is unsubscribing solely because of PPV boxing or if there is its about 5 people. Not something Sky are going to be worried about.

The second part of your post is partially correct. People will be unsubscribing because of the lost of football to BT, but only if Sky Sports is no longer of value to them (prices rises etc.)

At the end of the day theres only 1 subscription driver for Sky Sports and thats Premier League football. Without that the rest of it doesn't happen. Hence why they spent over 5 billion quid to keep hold of it.

 

If it's seventh on the list, then surely it's not that important? Which means that it's not PPV worthy, right?
