Below is a little timeline on what both fighters have done too back up their claims that they want all the belts since becoming world champion Anthony Joshua - A guy who since becoming World Champion, has openly said he is in pursuit of the belts and so far has stuck too his word. He has collected the IBF belt, where he said himself, the journey wasnt to become World Champion, it was too unify all the belts. He then pursued the WBA and IBO belts however stood in front of him was a clash against a fully motivated, hard hitting experienced former kingpin of the division. Would he avoid this ultimate test in just only his 19th fight? NO, he turned up and defeated the guy who has 10+ years of experience on him and still hit as hard as ever. 1 year later, Anthony Joshua is still pursuing more belts. Now as the WBA, IBF, IBO, World Heavyweight Champion, Anthony Joshua has managed to agree to a fight against a dangerous unbeaten WBO Champion in Joseph Parker. So lets just have a recap of what Joshua has said he wanted to do and what he has done. Joshua won the IBF belt in 2016 and since then claimed he wanted to win all the belts and has stood by what he said, he first went after the WBA and IBO belts where he was too face a very dangerous opponent, he is now pursuing the WBO belt where he is also facing a fellow unbeaten, very dangerous opponent. Now stop and think, Do you honestly believe that if Deontay Wilder came out and said, "Right guys, ill take 25/30% lets make a fight happen" that Eddie Hearn and Anthony Joshua, who dont forget, are businessmen aswell, would reject that fight? you would have too be crazy. The only thing that has stopped the fight on AJs side is money, if Wilder accepted 30-35% then it would be him fighting on Saturday night. Wilder has made no secret of his 50/50 demands, now below, lets take a look at how determined Wilder is at "Chasing all the belts". Deontay Wilder - A man who won the belt in early 2015, hes defended his belt numerous times since winning it but hasnt managed a single unification fight. During the year Wilder became Champion, Klitschko was still World Champion and held all of the other belts. There was never "Close Negotiations" in the news with these camps, so id imagine Wilder didnt really fancy this fight for whatever reason and you can almost certainly guarantee that Klitschko wasnt gonna avoid Wilder, just look at Klitschkos recent resume over the past 5/6 years, so we can put that one down too Wilder not wanting to fight Klitschko anytime soon which is actually understandable for a recently anointed Champion. Tyson Fury later defeated Klitschko that year and held 3 of the 4 belts and Wilder openly called him out only for Fury to have to take a rematch with Klitschko. Of course we all remember what happened, Fury got stripped of all his belts and they became vacant. Now, with 3 other belts available, surely Deontay Wilder, a WBC Champion would be able to put forward his name to unify one of them right? That would be pretty simple for a Champion to do? Anthony Joshua went on too claim the IBF belt that was won by Charles Martin when it was vacant and Joseph Parker went on too win the WBO belt in a vacant bout with the WBA belt still vacant. We are now in late December and Joshua has just defeated Wilders previous foe, Eric Molina, in much more brutal fashion may i add, and has announced he will face Wladimir Klitschko to unify the WBA and IBF belts. Around this same time Joseph Parker has become the new WBO Champion and has openly said he is open too Unification bouts with Wilder or the Joshua/Klitschko winner. Now Mr Wilder, a man who these days "Really wants too unify all the belts" would surely be able too make a 50/50 fight with Joseph Parker, neither are huge names, Wilder is probably A side in these negotiations and could claim 60/40 and Parker, is clearly easy too deal with. However, the whole of 2017 passes and Wilder does not pursue this fight even though its easy too make and he must fight Parker at some point if he is too collect all the belts as he needs that WBO belt... Instead he waits and defends his belt twice against Gerald Washington and Bermane Stiverne. Now ask yourself, Why did Wilder not make a fight with Joseph Parker, which would of been very easy too make? 1. Parker wouldnt fight Wilder cause he was scared 2. He was waiting for Joshua too get a big payday and not risk losing it against Parker 3. He isnt motivated by legacy and is only motivated by money, therefore he isnt after the belts hes just after that big payday Anthony Joshua brings. I know which one seems to make the most sense too me. Wilder has been very vocal in calling Anthony Joshua out and claims he wants too win all the belts however as ive shown above, Wilder doesnt have a great history in making fights against other Champions but he does have a good history in calling them out. Joshua has been vocal about fighting certain fighters and has always said if the deal is right he will fight whoever, and as you have seen, everything hes said, hes done, he said he would go for all the belts and he has been doing that. Theres 2 things that could be going on here; 1. Deontay Wilder has been pursuing these fights but everyone else is too blame for Klitschko/Fury/Joshua/Parker all not fighting him, they are all just too scared too fight him thats why hes has 0 unification fights in 3 years. 2. Anthony Joshua has been pursuing Wilder but has instead had too settle for other Champions because they are easier too deal with financially and thats why hes managed to compete for 4 out of the 5 belts or 3 of the 4 if you dont like the IBO. In my opinion i think Wilder has been very smart. Hes avoided the big fights till the right time and now hes making noise too get that big money fight, and with that big money fight will come every single belt, Anthony Joshua will be bringing all the belts and a hefty retirement fund for Deontay in just one single fight, hes let Anthony Joshua do all the hard work for him collect all the belts, make a huge name of himself so each fight is massively financially and Wilder will cash out against him and hope too win the lottery with a lucky bomb. The fight isnt happening because Wilder isnt ready too fight yet, he will almost certainly be ready too fight after this Saturday night, because after Saturday night he will fight Joshua for all of the belts in the division and he will be paid handsomely for it win lose or draw. So fair play for Wilder avoiding this fight and pricing himself out till the right time, i promise you, Wilder will take 35% in the fight against Joshua. Just ask yourself, whys he taking 35% now and he didnt take it back in 2016/17/18? Because back then Joshua didnt have every single belt like he does now and hes going too get alot more money than he would of then. Smart moves Deontay, i actually kind of respect him a bit more now even tho he is avoiding the fight, but now i understand it and its smart asf. Why fight for half the money and only 3 belts when we can fight for double the money and all the belts? Genius.
It would be hilarious if Deontay lands that one bomb and then windmills the bodybuilder to oblivion. Logistically credibility unification somebody baby.
Wilder has that rare type of power that can clip anyone and put anyone out for a 30 count. Most dangerous foe out there, fact
I agree but it's more than the power that makes Wilder special. Lucas Browne had a sh1t ton of power too
youre a mad man if you think Joshua-Wilder happens in 2018. Both know it's better to build more momentum. Every fight creates more interest, Fall 2019 if we're lucky
Negotiations, promoters, mandatories, sometimes things do happen. Not sure if he or his management tried to take or avoid. I do know this- AJ vs DW will happen and they will make history as two young HW's undefeated , both capable of hurting the other. Both capable of getting hurt. Both got heart. FOTY...whenever it does go down.
