Just like if Pascal won a 3rd fight against Hopkins in 2015.

His advantages over Usyk wont erode with time, while Usyks advantages are steadily eroding.

It would be meaningless. Ok he waited long enough to turn a 8-4 loss to a draw or 7-5 win 3+ years later. Whats the point??

I believe any fight between top 5 heavyweights has some relevancy. In this specific case if Joshua and Usyk win their next fight even more so. But I think I understand your point. Usyk is several years older than Joshua and significantly smaller. As time marches on Joshua will retain his size and punching power but the skills that Usyk depends on will erode. If they fought a third time and Joshua eked out a close decision few would believe that it is proof that Joshua is superior. Usyk is a relatively small 36-year-old heavyweight and the risk of him losing to father time increases as every day goes by.

Usyk still too young for the rematch rematch.
They thought he was too small and not so dangerous at HW, that's why they took the fight at first. People are rewriting that history as AJ bravery, when in fact many pundits thought Usyk was in trouble, especially after the Chisora fight.

Since Usyk turned out to be dangerous, we have to adjust back to AJ norms.
Usyk needs to get to prime dangerous-AJ-opponent age, which is between 38-41.

    -Helenius 38+
    -Pulev 40
    -Povetkin 39
    -Wlad 41
    -Wilder 38+

Oh, hang on, Wilder was still too young and got ducked again. He'll probably only get his shot 40+ now, if he wins a bit and makes a noise.

If Usyk gets KO'd by Fury they might consider him damaged goods and do the rematch rematch. But it would be nice if he at least got near 38.

We all love AJ, super cool guy and role model for the offspring of strippers. Oxford is preparing an honorary bidnezz MBA for him as we speak. Loves Nigeria, though is often too busy to visit the hotels there. But having said all that, by god does he love older dudes.

Usyk won't fight aj he'll retire after 2 fights with Fury, and Fury will also probably retire. They shouldn't give the bodybuilder another title fight payday he's used them up

Afterwards aj will be left to collect the vacant belts, knowing he was never good enough to snatch them from the top 2 players. And he'll still lose somehow.

This. Beat Fury twice, then maybe one of Wilder, Hrgovic or Zhang. Then retire.

You saying it won't make Hearn/Joshua think any different. Usyk 3 is still one of the most lucrative and prestigious fights for them (it would be Joshua's 2nd "ATG win"), even if I don't think they "deserve" it. Fortunately, team Usyk decide whether it happens rather than Hearn/Joshua.

They'd have to do a best of five for Joshua to gain the advantage. This is why the Ngannou fight is so meaningless. If Fury beats Usyk, he'd have already one-upped AJ. If Usyk wins, well, he has already beaten AJ twice. In either scenario, neither fighter has any natural incentive to fight him.

He was better off just making the Wilder fight.

Why are so many against rematches?

There could be many reasons why one fighter loses to another, and it also shows the skill of one guy to beat a guy he's been in the ring with again.

They dont find often enough to hsve rematches when the guy already got schooled twice.

Any win over Usyk is a big achievement.

The man takes his career seriouslly, dont expect a shot version of him performing out there.

Usyk has lingering injuries that will force him to retire sometime not too far ahead, but he may be still active in 2025.

    Nonsense.

If Usyk beats Fury both times and fights AJ for a third time (why would he take that fight?) AJ winning would be huge and would probably seal his standing as an ATG.

I don't think it would be irrelevant especially if Usyk has a good performance vs Fury, if anything i always felt Joshua was a tad too passive vs Usyk which in fairness was down to Usyk aswell. But i feel like if Joshua does fight in a more aggressive manner and targets the body it's winnable for him and would be good for his resume. Not that i necessarily want to see a 3rd fight though in all honesty but it would still be a big fight and i'd watch it.

The Joshua saga has passed.. Usyk decisively beat him twice... a third won't happen ... he's contracted up with Fury for this year & when that's through he'll be 37.. theres no fights left for him.. Wilders done... that would be a drubbing... I suspect Usyk & Fury will retire after their fights.. Fury already seems mentally only half in boxing these days anyway.. end of an era incoming.. & hopefully Usyk goes out undefeated... with ATG status assured.
