I think the problem is both AJ and Wilder were still rather untested chinwise and in other ways. They are not yet complete fighters. Fury is the only one who looks like he is complete, and yet Tyson doesn't seem to have the heart for it for long term.
AJ is no Mercer when it comes to chin but its not get dropped by the likes Nicholls,Sconiers, Cunningham and Pajkic bad.
Donkey has been KO'd x2 in the gym by Wlad with pillows and headguards on Dropped heavily, badly hurt and saved from a KO defeat against tomato can Sconiers Wobbled by glass-jawed school teacher Molina Hurt by footballer Breazeale Dropped, wobbled by air punches, knocked bandy-legged and made to do a hilarious chicken dance by Romanov and saved from an out cold twitching on the canvas highlight reel KO loss by the ref Rocked by jabs from bums The 40% shell of a hurt Fury hurt him a bit too in the last round People think Bum Squad has a good chin because he survived that Old Man River onslaught but he only survived because he kept his chin glued down during it. Trust me Bum Squad's whiskers are every bit as glassy as AJ's who has fought way better and harder hitting competition than him both amateur and pro.
China chin. Ruiz is not a specially hard puncher. Pure china, if wilder connects, AJ dies, right then, right there. EDIT: on the other hand ruiz proved that he knows how to take a punch. No doubt.
Shocker of a result, but It's clear that Anthony's chin and stamina are not the greatest. Quite similar to Wlad in that respect. AJ got hurt by a left hook up top tonight and hurt to the body. He's been hurt/decked a few times now and future opponents know his flaws. Just goes to show you that no one is really unbeatable, a thing that a lot of people forget. Well done to Ruiz who's a strong boy, has fast hands and fighting spirit. His night and a great performance.
