"Whyte has always been British level garbage."

This is impossible to square with Parker not being "British level garbage" and thus practically the whole division.

AJ can rebuild his confidence with a couple knockout victories. I see that Dillian Whyte is fighting in December. Whyte would be a good comeback for AJ. Whyte's chin is gone AJ should be able to knock him out.

I honestly believe he and Wilder sidestepped each other for their own reasons. Wilder’s handlers knew that he could very well be outboxed in the worse way. AJs team knew the possibility of Wilder landing a bomb was high due to AJs lack of head movement.

Speaking of “mental state” - one day there will be dissections done on the syndrome that seems to grip some people on this forum - OBSESSING and creating their own realities to justify and vindicate their petty vendettas against FIGHTERS who train like maniacs and sacrifice their bodies in the name of sport and entertainment.

Seriously, from an outsider perspective some of these posts read as unbelievably infantile. Is Joshua the best heavy of this generation? Unlikely. Is he a good heavy with a good resume? No doubt. He’s also a clean athlete, not afraid to pursue rematches with those who have defeated him, and has rejuvenated the sport in the UK which has had a knock on effect elsewhere.

I remember in the Wlad days “oh he’s so boring, and all the other heavies are just fat guys”. Then Joshua comes along “oh he’s fake. And he’s obviously on steroids cos he’s ripped”. Geez. Pick a lane.

Just grow up and have some respect.

Is Joshua the best of his generation? Not even close.

Is he a “clean athlete”? Maybe if you’re born yesterday.

Not afraid to pursue rematches? Dubois disagrees.

Rejuvenated the sport in the UK? Maybe among idiots supporting a false idol who despises them.

Joshua has always been mentally weak for a top pugilist. After the Wlad fight he said “I shouldn’t have to go there to win, if I have another one of those fights I retire”.

If people had taken this seriously they could have made a lot of money betting against him (a clear or huge favourite in 3 of his 4 losses thus far) against his better/more dangerous opponents.

You're whining about posters criticizing an overexposed and overrated fighter. I'm sure you'll volunteer the lead these "dissections" in the future you intellectual you. You don't sound like you have an "outsider perspective", you sound like a run of the mill "leave my favorite fighter alone!" poster who is captivated by the spectacle of the sport but not the sweet science itself.

Nothing to do with that. More to do with disrespecting fighters in general. These bizarre, quasi fan-fic theories that posters build to justify their narratives are just ridiculous. They are all fighters, show some respect.

Could you give me an example of what you mean? No idea what you're talking about. If you're suggesting that people on a hardcore boxing forum stop criticizing fighters entirely, I think this is the wrong forum for you.

    *with all due respect*

I am not referring to criticizing fighters - everyone does that. I remember Lewis being called the tin man back when I was a big Lewis fan, due to getting splattered by Rahman and McCall (who were called “average” and a “sparring partner”, respectively) and “fighting scared” against Tua (“a poor man’s Mike Tyson”). So I’ve heard it all before.

What I am objecting to, is these bizarre constructs - people writing long posts theorizing about the mental state and apparent collapse of people who have endured and experienced more than most people could ever countenance. And the only reason it is done, is with the sole purpose of validating their own viewpoint - their bias and loathing of a certain fighter.

It’s not just Joshua (who I personally think deserves more respect), but also Wilder, Fury, Canelo, Tank, etc etc etc. All the big fighters have haters. But constructing your own reality to bash people when you have zero understanding of their reality is just utterly toxic, and undermines the sport ultimately, *in my opinion*.

Also - as for this inference of being a casual fan - I’ve been actively following boxing since 1989, and have over 15 years of boxing experience, in pro gyms in both the UK and the US. Not trying to front or anything, but just for context. When you have been in and out of pro gyms, you learn a respect for ALL fighters and their sacrifices. I also have a lot of time for boxers that help regenerate the sport, as I have watched it’s decline and peaks and troughs over the years. We have it good right now compared to a few years ago, but still people complain. That’s fine to complain about the business - but I really find the psychoanalysis and unfounded critique of fighters distasteful and disrespectful. That’s all.

"people who have endured and experienced more than most people could ever countenance."

Check out "trench warfare in WW1". Top boxers are playing tiddlywinks (for mega money) by comparison. You don't need to cape for them.

Many of these people, Joshua included, are the dregs of society. He just happens to be a 6'6, 250 lbs dreg (who folds when a much smaller fat man puts it on him, hilariously enough).

"when you have zero understanding of their reality"

We have their language, behaviour and the experience of past fighters to go by. Obviously getting battered and made to quit, schooled twice and then brutally KO'd over 5 or so years is going to reduce a fighter's confidence and desire, especially if they are a "superstar elite boxer".

Come on man, this is absurd. I feel like you are making my point for me.

This is an utter waste of time. Keep disrespecting boxers without having experienced what they have. Enjoy feeling better about yourself after crafting your own reality to live in, where you have it all figured out. I’m not in the habit of slagging fighters.

    Logging off. Waste of time.
