you gotta give respect to huge guys trying to compete with smaller ones at such huge sizes, disadvataged by huge amounts of weight - the effort they need to keep fit enough must be immense in training.

Going to mean however that as their careers tailend, they will be be inclined to either accept more bum opponents to extend their title reigns, or quit early on in their careers...or accept some severe beatings as they enter their mid-30s.

 

Yeah this sounds like more of an attempt to prop up joshuas win. Wladmir might have trained harder than ever, but at the end of the day the tools he was working with were a shopworn 40 year old body. Thus he was limited in what he could do. Like an elite veteran navy seal who only has a pisol to work with.

He was gunshy and a little ponderous. Disagree that no one else could have beaten him.

I'm still searching for the point you're trying to make here, were you claiming AJ can't be a great??! He's in the beginning to middle of creating an ATG career.

Dudes had 22 or so fights and only a few of them belonged anywhere near a ring with him. I believe he'll eventually be down ton Fighting at 230's which is less enough for him.

Dude is fast and nine nimble for his stature. I get how most people hate runners and believe the come back story to be great, I believe it's far greater to not need that come back BS..

For two reasons:

1: Just the weight itself, of course, having o haul it around the ring.

2: What most folks don't realize, is that more muscle means a LOT more blood capillaries, (though not as much as fat) and that puts a large strain on the heart. - A lot more tiny little vessels it has to pump through. No amount of plyometrics or road work can change this, and you can never get rid of that muscle once you have it. (other than by literally starving yourself for days on end, something far too dangerous for a pro athlete to ever consider. )

The eye test told me it was no different from jersey joe walcott vs rocky marciano or Alis revenge against leon spinx. An aging champion giving it his one last hurrah and a splendid performance. But people need to stop exaggerating like wladmir turned back the clock and was "better" than hed been in 10 years. Your body doesnt get better after 10 years of sparring, training, back to back title defenses, and then a 1 year layoff at 40 years of age.

Not letting someone off the hook doesnt mean u have to expose your chin and throw wild shots. Tyson, joe louis, errol spence, they all knew how to calmly break a guy down when he was hurt. Wladmir also used to be a good finisher but he got old and was too used to his basic jab and grab strategy that worked against mediocre title challengers.
