Ruiz was knocked down against Arreola who, in his forties, was brought out of retirement and was shot to bits. He was nearly knocked down again by Arreola. He's only been in the ring four times since the Joshua win. Once against Joshua and then against three old men.
I wouldn't completely rule out a fight with Hughie. It could be a way of enticing Tyson into a fight, which seems the only real big fight I imagine Joshua would be up for.
I'd say Joshua has heart. He has one of the worst abilities to recover I have ever seen. When he is hit, he stays hit for several round after. In the Ruiz and Dubois fights he was pretty much on shaky legs for 4-5 rounds after the first knockdown. Every shot that landed wobbled him again, some flooring him, he never had his legs beneath him, and he looked knackered. Despite that, he kept getting up and fighting back until he wasn't able to anymore. That takes heart.
I reckon it will be Tony Yoka the complete Joka. Poses next to no threat and Eddie can spin it as a fight between ex Olympic champs.
Regarding AJ's upcoming opponent, I completely understand if Matchroom finds a soft opponent. He needs to look good so they can sell AJ vs Fury next summer.
It’s a risk putting Joshua in with anyone at this stage in his career. anyone who puts it on him and/or can punch a bit will have him petrified. He’s gun shy and he’s now also an inactive fighter. From the noises Hearn is making, it looks like it will be miller early 2026 but as to who in December, i haven’t go a clue.

Would be interesting for me to support Joshua for the second time in his career after the MMA man. Would love to see that Paul out cold.
Same here - Paul has been taking the urine for years with his matchmaking. Only a matter of time before he gets stiffed badly and cannot wait to see it.
Theres been plenty of rumours about Paul's fights being scripted and opponents being paid to do certain things. I'd be interested in this as I doubt he could buy AJ I'd actually pay to see Paul starched.
Mike Tyson the classic example - a deal was done to carry the most dangerous old man on the planet the distance. Cue John Fury back on youtube calling the world out next.
Do people really think there is any chance AJ is fighting this year? Surely not. I reckon he won’t be out until about April and then it’ll be a “return fight / homecoming” where he batters some weirdly highly ranked contender who we’ve barely heard of.
