    A few things:

    1) Joshua normally does that thing where he has his arms up and sort of moves them side to side, that was completely missing all of a sudden last night

    2) what the hell was he doing with his gumshield, he was chewing on it from the minute he got in the ring and the whole time the announcer was doing his thing. Something behind that?

He was nervous. He's in a mental funk where he's afraid to get hit and everyone around him, fans included, seem to be more confident in his present abilities than he is of his own abilities. Simply speaking, he's afraid of getting hit.

That's not to say he's not a great fighter or the current cream of the crop; he seems to have a Jermain Taylor like syndrome (post Pavlik) where the bigger concern isn't so much winning but rather it's simply not losing by KO. Remember he sought out the services of the Sports Psychologist recently. I think that's what troubles him at the moment. He needs confidence builders, jumping back into the frey won't do him any good but I expect him to be back.
