Jou louis vs tyson fury

I would be the first to say "so far so good" for Fury, but he has only had three fights against elite opposition.

It is far too early to put him in the same context as Louis.

Fury one of the most overhyped fighters in recent memory IMO

 

I don't see Fury staying out of range for 15 rounds either, it's one thing outboxing Deontay Wilder an entirely different thing doing that against an opponent with the speed, timing and accuracy of Louis.

 

It would be enjoyable to watch Joe pick apart and chop down the massively overrated Fury.

 

This. Joe is a very crisp precise puncher, with fast hands and explosive combinations. Louis was not as small a man as he being painted here, sure he’s not as large as Fury (who is). Won’t matter at the end, If Steve Cunningham can drop Fury hard and Otto Wallin can hurt Fury late then without a doubt Joe Louis can and will hurt him and when he hurts you he finishes you. I would like for Joe Louis to win. But it would no doubt be a very hard fight.

 

Fury is still a bit of an enigma in my eyes.

He only has three fights against ranked opponents, but they include some masterful performances.

He essentially out boxed the best boxer of his day, and out punched the best puncher, so not much to find fault with there.

For all that he did look quite beatable against Steve Cunningham and Otto Wallin.

My verdict?

Why not wait a bit longer!

 

Joe wins a close fight

 

Fury is excellent fighter and his size would be a huve obstacle, but Louis was faster and more precise puncher. I think that he'd knock him out in the second half of the fight after a great tactical battle.

People seriously underestimate how deadly Louis was as a pressure fighter. He's also one of the best body punchers ever and Fury wouldn't be able to run away from them.

Anyway, anyone who thinks this fight is a missmatch doesn't know much about boxing.

Good post. That little cruiserweight hit pretty hard. He made that 250lb Superheavy go down like he had been shot. The Brown Bomber had lightening quick hands, a complete arsenal and probably the best combination puncher in heavyweight history. 75 years ago he was doing it better than anyone before or since.

This big old boy didn't know Louis was a small cruiserweight.

 

Joe was surgical with those hands.

 

It's generally not been the larger fighters that have given Fury the most trouble throughout his career either.

I think he's been carefully managed since his comeback and I'd be (pleasently) surprised if he fights Usyk and Michael Hunter.

 

Louis' resume is far better than Fury's. Fury has also been dropped by lesser punchers.

That said ... Fury is a horrible stylistic matchup for Louis, just horrible. A huge rangey boxer shifting all over the ring and not letting Louis get set? No fun at all. This is one of those fights where you'd have to see it to know the outcome. I think Fury might pull off the UD, but if Louis finds a way to make him engage, Fury could be in trouble. Picking Fury with little confidence.
