Orlando Salido and Mike Weaver at the beginning of their career, were both journeyman and had records of 14-8 to start their careers. Nobody would have predicted them becoming anything but look at what Salido has accomplished, he's up for fight of the yr.

Both overcame and went on to world titles. Both were not good enough to even be a gatekeeper or anything just tough guys at the beginning of their careers.

As someone pointed out, some fighters go from prospect, to contender, to champion and if they stick around after long enough after their championship days were over then become journeyman, a good example was the ATG Ezzard Charles. It's sad but it happens.
The saddest part is once great fighters becoming stepping stones and considered opponents.

Glen Johnson should be here. Win a few, lose a couple but always somewhere in the mix and tough as nails. He has 21 loses but beat Tarver, RJJ, Montell Griffin Clinton Woods and Allan Green. Around 2010 he peaked and had his biggest victories.

No-one whoever fought him thought it was an easy fight. Traditional come forward behind the eaf-muff defense.
