You could look into Joe Grimm. Fought: Jack O'Brian Peter Maher Barbados Joe Walcott Bob Fitzsimmons Joe Gans Hugo Kelly Jack Blackburn Jack Johnson That's basically a who's who of his era.
Great weekend for the away corner, with wins for Poochi, Karl Sampson and Nabil Ahmed. Jamie Quinn racked up his 150th fight too.
I was at that show in Notts. Karl's a good kid and was too good for short. Karl was a good amateur and short was a novice amateur having less than 10 bouts . Nabeel bashed jake morgan around the ring for the last 2 rds. He put far too much into the 1st Rd did morgan and tried knocking Nabeel out. Unfortunately for him he started to blow and Nabeel who BTW can fight, then proceeded to let him have it for trying it on with him and took the win whilst also nearly stopping him. 39/37. Was a decent show tbf
when did meaning of journeyman change to be boxer who loss almost every fight? this looks like as a British phenomenon of recently.
Cheers for the report, interesting read. I only know of Karl and Nabil from what I’ve seen online, but my co-host has been to Manor boxing gym to meet a few of the lads there, which I believe Karl’s dad owns?
Cool I'll have to check it out! Some names to look into; Kristian laight (300 fight journeyman recently retired) Reggie Strickland (the journeyman's journeyman) The Jakubowski brothers (114-7 Marty and his brother Eric. Im not exactly sure how to classify Marty as his record is impressive but he only beat basically other journeymen (including fighting his brother) and fought for a few titles based off his record) Terrell Jamal Woods (active heavyweight with 91 fights)
Paul butlin has a tiktok account he talks about his career on there in few vids it's quite interesting to listen to him
Know of Kristian, fingers crossed we can get him on at some point, but will certainly check out those others too. 363 bouts for Strickland?? Sheesh! Cheers for that
