It's a fact, list all of the former P4P #1 rated fighters in the sport's history out and most, if not all of them did the sport a credit by seeking challenge and the best fights on level with strives for financial gain also.

If you will also look through the line of succession with P4P #1's, you will see that he really doesn't compare to them prime to prime and H2H when they were at their best.

    Discuss.

Then the question arises.... Is Joy Boy really the best of this generation, or has just been a place holder during a slightly weak spot where some of the best fighters either did too little in the case of Joe Calzaghe and are just starting to come out in the case of many or just starting to build legacy?

I think it's suspect, I think everything needs to be reviewed.

Joy Boy is official designation for Floyd Mayweather Jr. if you disaprove of him. It originates from 'Floyd Joy Sinclaire Mayweather'.

So was all the other #1's in p4p's history ...

Floyd is not the first hated p4p king ... i'm sure that all p4p kings throughout history were criticized in one form or another. I can remember Roy Jones getting criticized during his reign ... which in turn made him make the song "ya'll musta fo got" ...

You think Sugar Ray Robinson was praised throughout his career? No

When your on top everyone wants to see you brought down to reality ... on a level of normalcy ...

Its human nature ... the fact that you think about Floyd just solidifies his status as the best p4p fighter in the world.

If there weren't haters like you there would be no point for anyone to be considered the best.

Mayweather's last fight was against a top 10 P4P fighter, have you forgotten that? The fight before that was against a former top P4P fighter who if more active would also have been a top 10 P4P fighter. De La Hoya showed how formidable he still is against Mayweather. And also the deck was stacked against Mayweather in that fight (smaller ring, higher weight class). He hasn't fought Cotto yet, get over it. If Cotto had any knowledge he'd be calling out Mayweather like Hatton did. Its clear that insulting him gets on his nerves, yet Cotto continues to just do what Bob Arum says.

    That's incorrect.

Roy was being criticised at one point, but in retrospect, his opposition was not soft and his dominance is almost unparalleled.

Floyd is not comparable to Jones.

Very much so, everyone was impressed by him.

Depends on who we're dealing with. In this case, people are fed up with a greedy, cherry picking ****bag for the supposed 'best fighter in the sport' tag. He's an awful representation.

This makes zero sense, but you're a moron anyway and statements like these are expected.

    :patsch

Floyd is pretty much the number one P4P by default to be quite honest.

He's been in the top 10 for some time now but as your Mosleys, De La Hoyas, Trinidads, and Jones' came and went Floyd was the only one that kept his 0.. that's what I think it comes down to.. as all higher ranked P4Pers suffered some form of setback Floyd would move up the list by default. That's my theory.

In retrospect you will think the same thing about Floyd ... The same thing that was said about Roy is said about Floyd.

Its just that Roy proved that he was human and got KO'd and that made people feel for him and accept the fact that he wasn't invinceable.

But Floyd won't lose and some haters would have to wait till he retires to get what he ment to the sport and how big his accomplishment were ...

I don't think so at all. FMJ has been a great champion, with a heap of great wins. His resume will surely place him well inside the top 100 ATG. Just because you personally don't like him, doesn't mean he isn't a great fighter. The guy has won world titles in a heap of divisions, has destroyed some tough undefeated fighters in their primes, and then beaten proven HOF fighters who are naturally much bigger then him. Credit where credit is due. Far too much personal bias present in this post.
