Against Usyk, who's going to be a top pro if he turns,I think.Joyce looked good against the odds, and has a future himself. Also,Selby terrific as always.Any thoughts on their futures?
He's a unit Joyce, Keeps himself fit the lad see him riding his bike. He's a natural athlete and is a game kid. Needs a fair amount of work technically but i think his willingness to learn is there. Selby is very natural boxer, Like the way he can change stances as he transitions and still offer some offense. Little light in terms of power and needs to settle those feet at times but i like what i see. Think he could turn pro now and have a domestic title within space of 15 months.
Thanks for the insight Skills.Think maybe Joyce doing the 5 rounds could prepare him for the pros somewhat.I really rate Usyk, plus the Croatian he beat had a good background so think he could be the pro Eddie Hearns is said to be looking for, could IMO make decent Euro level if as you said the work is put in. Agree that Selby a natural. Some talent in that family.Could see your prediction coming true, then Euro in the same timespan. Then, who knows?
Yeah i agree on both accounts Ted. I think Selby's well seasoned to really go for it as well from get go. Thing i'm wondering with these lads operating on WSB. How will they be matched when the fully transition to pro's. Because there fighting world class am's in a pro style. Yet they turn over and start 0-0 yet could be stuck in with a guy with a 10-98-2 record. Seems pointless to me but will be interested to see how they get matched in pro's. I will monitor Joyce closely, Local lad and showing himself to be a winner. Not the prettiest of technicians but winning's a lovely habit to have and i think Euro level could well be a great shout mate i don't see why he can't.
Yeah most of the British lionhearts gave a good account of themselves. Joyce looked better than I thought he would against Usyk. Selby has real class, speed and skills in abundance pity he seems like a bit of a twat like his brother. My boy Joe Ward showed his ability last night to, very good hand-speed combination punching and ring generalship. Freddie Evans looked out of his depth though, as talented as he seems. Got hammered around the ring by a much stronger opponent, and had no answer to his work on the inside. Evans, as a natural counter puncher, looks a bit better suited to the amateurs, although he has plenty of time to develop yet.
Yeah Fred a bit dissapointing.Hes moved up in weight hasnt he?Think you're right about him staying amateur, good luck to him though.
I thought Maxwell did very well, he got a pasting from Lomachanko in January but last night he made adjustments & did a lot better.
Usyk made Joyce look a novice at times, not Joyces fault at all, Usyk is just quality. His movement and speed was different class. Joyce has time on his side to work out the kinks though. Joe Ward is different class, as is Selby. top top prospects!
What's the deal with the Joe Joyce who was on Dunce's program? He looked mixed race and had a London accent.
