He looks looser, he turns over his jab and moves smoother. He moves his head when he punches. It's funny he doesn't look like that when he fights. This content is protected
Lol. It's kind of funny how some here try to put a bad light on a humble and skillful fighter like Joyce by extolling snooty fighters who have no fundamentals and you all know who we're talking about.
Sparring is not fighting Joyce knows how to fight, how to better his opponents physically & mentally over the course of a 12 round bout. He will only come unstuck either against a massive puncher who can follow up like AJ early doors or a supreme boxer such a Fury Stick Whyte in front of him and watch what happens when Whyte is blowing mid fight and Joyce gets on top of him. Joe was going to stop Takam and stopping Takam was his only goal. Getting hit is just part of the process for him. He just has to not become too reliant on his chin. When AJ gets hit his pants change colours, Joyce doesn't flinch or even care. Not that he wants to get hit but in the grand scheme of the fight it's irrelevant for him.
You'll find that with a lot of British fighters. We really are as skillful as they come but we also posses that warrior gene and we will often eschew our skills because there's nothing more we love than a tear up and because we also realize that boxing is an entertainment sport and we want to give the crowd their money's worth. That's why British domestic dust ups are always so exciting to watch, because the fans get to see not one but two warriors going to war and leaving everything they have in the ring.
I like joyce. His boxing skill are meehhhh. But he knows how to fight with the tools God gave to him (tools poor as ****). That's not easy. He deserves respect, that's not easy. Like caveman Froch. To be able to fight and win with those shitty tools is not easy at all.
What shitty tools? Good footwork, good head movement, fantastic jab... he looks slow and clunky but he is very good.
nah, as I said, I respect joyce. But he's limited as ****. Being limited and winning is an art, and it must be respected. But I dont see the point in denying the reality.
The next time read this before speaking. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2021/jan/25/joe-joyce-the-aim-is-to-be-undisputed-heavyweight-champion-of-the-world
Good read, thank you. It looks like he has a good head on his shoulders. He seems a nice guy too. There is a reason why the winner wins. I dont believe in luck.
Sparring breeds familiarity. You're also in a comfort zone. Then a real fight happens and it's a different scenario altogether and many things just get left on the table. That's why Floyd was so good; he had so many different sparring partners on rotation so he was alway ready, mentally sharp and physically on point too.
Not always. Sparring might be different and some from them sometimes sadly goes like 101% fight. It is not easy to handle also long sparring in fast pace, btw especially light sparring. Guy is more productive with his output etc.
He fights exactly like a guy that started boxing at 22 years old. He is athletic and did master some of the basics but looks absolutely robotic in there. Best of luck to him though he seems like a good guy.
It is weird how he manages to be so slow yet still land punches. He's really strong and sturdy, so when you hit him, he doesn't really get pushed back. He stands his ground and he's able to land his own (sloooow) clubbing punches.
