Really interesting test for Hrgovic. Hard to predict how both fighters will turn up. I think Joyce is past it now, I don't think his punch resistance is there anymore. Hrgovic is skilled and talented but his stamina isn't as good as Joyce's in the long-run and there are questions to be asked about his will for a fight in which the going can get really tough if Joyce can turn the clock back and outwork him especially as Hrgovic seems to struggle when the fight isn't particularly his pace. It would only make sense to predict Joyce to win when going for the most proven fighter but its a different story when one of your best attributes in your chin has declined a fair bit, in addition to Joyce's flaws being rather obvious as we really saw against Zhang big time and against Chisora. I thought Whyte was going to knock Joyce out when they scheduled their fight. Hrgovic IMO has the edge than Whyte in terms of skill even if there are doubts about Hrgovic stamina and will and I think Hrgovic has enough skill to TKO Joyce in the early to the mid rounds with a counter in which the ref will wave it off fairly to end off a slugfest and a good competitive fight.
Infinitely better match up, although as a Joe Joyce fan, I'm far less optimstic about his chances now. That being said, if he can roll back the clock, it's definitely winnable. He's already comprehensively beaten him in the past. Granted Joe was a lot younger, and Hrgovic was far greener, but both have regressed terribly since then. But for anyone who wants to see a 5 rounds sneak preview, enjoy! It's a fun watch. This content is protected
The difference really is like, I would say... night and day, but actually, it's a 69 Mustang and a Ford Model T.
How would you rate Joyce's chances now? He's deteriorated a lot but I can still see him stopping/beating up a gassed Hrgovic late if he gets that far.
If Hrgovic doesn't mentally quit because of the pressure he beats Joyce, Joyce is done at the contender level
If Croatian can't win this then it's not a good sign. Joyce was never that good and now he's definitely old and damaged goods.
This is good news, whoever loses this in my opinion is officially finished, Hrgovic can't afford another fall...
Great news, I've wanted this fight for a while now. I think this fight is completely dependent on Hrgovic's gas tank. It was horrible against Dubois but it does seem Hrgovic has been working hard to make a proper comeback. If his gas tank improved then he should light Joyce up in a dominant UD. (I'd be shocked if Hrgovic was able to hurt Joyce). If it hasn't then I wouldn't be surprised if Joyce was able to TKO him standing up.
