He started his pro career too late.... he’ll he had his first pro fight at 32 years old.... he stayed in the amateurs too long. It looked like he aged over night
Zhang is 40 dude. But I agree. This loss hurts him badly. Losing as an undefeated prospect/contender at that age really hurts. Not as easy to bounce back. Who knows about the state of his eye either? Could be a problem in subsequent fights.
Zhang was just all wrong for him. Too big, too powerful, southpaw, rock solid chin. Joyce needs to swerve the rematch, fight Whyte and then see if he can lure one of the big 4 into the ring.
Joyce fought a very stupid fight. Joyce got too used to walking through people, but it didn't work with Zhang. After taking too many lefts Joyce's legs started going weak, so even when he tried to be more aggressive he didn't have much steam left in his punches. I expected more lateral movement from Joyce, since he came in lighter, but instead he was standing in front of Zhang like a statue. If Joyce does have a rematch clause he can win his title back, but he needs to start working early, since Zhang was throwing his left every time Joyce waited or hesitated.
Stop making excuses OP, he just isn’t good enough to be a world champion. But can do well domestically
Who cares, no excuse, Zhang is older and came from a loss to win, so can do Joyce in upcoming fights & Joyce has a much better promotion than Zhang
Zhang was knocked down with one punch by Jonathan Goode . Zhang doesn't have a rock solid chin. Also Zhang isn't too big or powerful. He is 6'6. Being 6'6 is some mythical height that just started. There were 6'6 250 pound guys since Buddy Baer and before. Zhang beat Joyce beat Joyce was never anything special.
He lost the exchanges. tried to compensate with pitty pat punches. I don't think he has anything in his arsenal to beat Zhang. His only hope is Zhang totally gassing out.
