At this point I would go as far as to say that even Audley Harrison would have given Joe Joyce problems lol. Joyce kept throwing the slowest 1-2 I have ever seen in the ring and was literally not moving his head at all. Actually never mind Audley Harrison, even Ainsley Harriott would have cooked Joyce tonight
Too me Joyce is just average. He has an iron chin and above-average power but is very slow and does not have much movement. Still, he would win a title.
Zhang is literally 40. Controversially lost last time yet got this opportunity and he turned it around. Calm down
Joyce is not a good boxer. I don't know why its so hard for people to accept this. Getting punched in your face more than your opponent isn't a recipe for long term success.
Two factors combined to beat Joyce, both courtesy of Zhang. Joyce didn't seem to know how to handle a southpaw's straight left and he could not see well enough. All props to Zhang for a great fight.
Please explain to me how Joyce has a iron chin? The dude only has 16 bouts and the "hardest" punches Joyce has faced was Daniel Dubois a guy who has yet to fight a legit contender and Zhang a guy who various other guys have went the distance with too.
You know what is funny? George Foreman was called slow but even the 48 year old Foreman who fought Shannon Briggs was faster. Lets go even further. Tommy Morrison admitted to being on steroids and was a bigger puncher than Zhang. Foreman still manage to land 225 punches in 12 rounds against Morrison and landed at a high percentage. Joyce landed 18 percent of his punches even though Zhang was standing right in front of him.
He looked the same to me accept much smaller and weaker which is a death sentence against a behemoth like Zhang.
Went in too small but against the top guys you need some form of defence which Joyce doesn't have. Zhang was connecting way to often.
if thats the case, then hes been too old for a long while, cause that was the joyce i was expecting, given all ive seen of him. hes just not a good boxer, never has been. he finally came across a team who knew how to take advantage of his deficiencies. and a fighter with the smarts to do it. he can still have fights that will sell. hard to tell if he can still get better. hes pretty old...and you might be trying to teach a giraffe how to move as smoothly as a cat.
Lol um Zhang is 6'6 240 who comes in the ring 280 because 99 percent of the heavyweights today are out of shape. 6'6 isn't a behemoth either. Also the 5'9 190 pound Eric George went the distance with Zhang.
