Joyce vs. Hrgovic is happening because they want to get rid of one of them...

Joyce is too old and Hrgovic is unprofitable from a marketing perspective. Hrgovic signed for Queensberry and the thing is, they want to permanently remove one of them from the boxing scene.

Don’t think it’s some big conspiracy but it’s defo the end of the road for the loser. Fact joyce has gotten another shot after losing to chisora (a way past his best gate keeper) is laughable.

It's good news for Hrgovic if he signed with Queensberry. Old Fish Eyes usually keeps his fighters active, he does not neglect them.

I think it's more that they both badly need a "name" win that can springboard them on to a bigger paycheck...

In other words, they're looking for some attention that might get them some Turki bags.

As things stand, they're both pretty irrelevant at the moment - Joyce because of his losses and obvious flaws, Hrgovic because he doesn't fight nearly often enough and because of his own obvious flaws.

If Queensbury push Hrgovic through much more regular fights he still has time to become relevant again even if he loses this - he'd be written off around here, and rightly so, but even if he loses he can still upset a fancied prospect and become relevant as a gatekeeper... If he wants it - and that's always been the biggest questionmark around Hrgovic.

Joyce... Realistically if he loses, he probably has little option except retirement.

I think they're using this fight to springboard and give some sort of platform to the winner considering Hrgovic has signed with Frank on top of Joyce being with Frank all of his career.

I think Hrgovic will win, and that he certainly has more upside/potential than Joyce. I wonder why they didn't just make Joyce v Hrgovic rather in the first place rather than Joyce V Whyte.

Yeah, It’s called a “cross roads fight”. Winner gets another big-ish opportunity, loser bites the dust.

Exactly. A crossroads fight is something that's been part of boxing for a LONG time. This isn't some new phenomenon somebody created for these guys!!:nonono

This fight is really all about trying to revive Joyce. Croatian is being used for that purpose, a roll of the dice for the destroyed brand called 'Juggernaut Joyce', that Zhang hilariously wrecked twice.
I still have faith in Croatian and think he can do good work for us.
For example, if he beats Joyce but doesn't look great, maybe AJ takes that fight as a 'respectable' interim opponent and gets a TKO surprise.

Anything short of a convincing victory for Hrgovic is out of the question, namely Hrgovic is known as a boring, unattractive fighter, and today attractive boxing is in demand...

I would say the opposite. Both are struggling and they want one of them to emerge as a contender.
