I was rewatching the Hasegawa vs Burgos match the other night. I remember before the match I knew nothing about Burgos and figured he was a guy with a padded record having never seen him fight before. I was very impressed with him, even though he lost the fight. Does anyone else think he might be able to make some noise at 126?
I think he can and will pick up a title one day, I was impressed with him too. No shame in losing to Hasegawa and knowing that Hozumi was the first lefty he ever fought as a pro, his performance looks even better. He stayed competitive and mentally strong despite some major difficulties and was respectful before and after the fight, so I eagerly await what the future holds for him. Mikey Garcia is the best FW prospect out there though.
His managers are matching him tough. His first fight back after his loss is going to be against Cristobal Cruz on FNF in February. Cruz isnt that skilled but hes no gimme
Now that's a tough comeback! Surprising quality, they better hope it doesn't bite back, but I like the choice, the way you improve your skills and ranking is by matching tough, and Cruz is a helluva fight after your first loss.
The guy looking at Hopkins at the Graterford Prison is a former inmate of the facility who since then did outstanding things in the boxing ring and went back to the lowpoint of his life to find a giant painting of himself on the gym walls.
Bump! Ok, so he did have an opponent who has been in some wars, was faded, and hadn't fought in 2 years or so, but I still liked what I saw. Too bad Cristobal Cruz pulled out, that would have been a solid fight.
:good Cruz is way better than his record suggests. That would have been fun - and could still be if they manage to reschedule.
Can't wait to see his last fight! I like the kid and his chances, only question is if he's looking for a FW or SFW belt. Great fights either way.
