he is unpredictable...should he takes this shot seriously he may have a solid chance to become champ...but he has let me down so many times,my fellow cuban.Im hoping more on Solis.
Virchis was ranked 8th by Ring, 10th by fightnews, 7th by boxrec. ITs a good win. I haven't seen the fight but i will download it.
i had the same question when he moved to HW yrs ago and then started to blow every single oportunity and wasted the best yrs of his life.. i dont know, maybe he likes party too much,or its lazy or has some psicological disorder...but he could have been champ a while ago.
You're right. Even against McCall he looked damn flat. I hope he gets in shape because the guy has an athletic gift and right now this is a waste.
He was same team with Klitchkos a long time ago and was not impressed by Vitali Klitchkos skills - so maybe we see that fight someday..
You struck a chord there (phsychological disorder) He does seem to be one of those guys who has a self destruct mechanism.. Tyson kinda had it... Liston did.... Oliver McCall was also of that orientation.. as was Herbie Hide.. Top notch fighters at thier best, but when things were going very well, they had some kinda mistrust in thier own ability.. They had bouts of craziness, and acted out like wild spirits... Gomez shows signs of this nature.. (maybe drug use in his past plays some part in this..) Who knows..
Yes he was , i remember him being in the gym with us when we sparred Wladimir in 2001.. He was just gaining weight as small heavy at the time.. he was sparring with a belgian cruiser .. you may remember.. Franco Wanyama... a shot Wanyama at that...... He was a very quiet man then, never really said much.. He seems a different man now.... Much more confident........
Man it won't be too long before having an answer... his next fight is already a title shot, against the winner of Vitali-Peter (I think). We'll see if he has what it takes to be a champ soon enough...
I would favour Gomez over Peter and I have to see how Vitali performs in his next fight to pick a winner. I've always been a Gomez fan and hopefully he gets it right when the chance comes he was an absolute beast at crusier would have really liked to see him vs Jones at crusier in 2000, if Roy had decided to move up at the time.
Riddick Bowe as well. I think the point we're coming to is the bigger they are, the CRAZIER they are.
