this kid looks good in disposing linares. how do you think he would fare at the sfw division, against soto or even gamboa should he move up?

salgado is in the super featherweight division. anyways, i don't think he can take humberto soto because soto is too experienced and tested for him but against gamboa i would give him a very big chance of beating gamboa. this guy is tall for a super featherweight, can punch and is very sound technically. one thing's for sure, if gamboa knocks down salgado i'm willing to bet salgado knocks him down as well. what salgado's team will probably do is give him some "soft" title defenses until he gains more experience before he tackles the big boys in the division.

i don't think gamboa is overrated at all. i think he's the real deal. he definitely has more natural ability than 90 pct. of other boxers. the man is incredibly gifted. the only one who could possibly stop him is himself because he does come on like an overconfident fighter at times. one things for sure, i wouldn't be surprised if he ever gets knocked out because he still fights like an amateur throwing many wild punches. someday someone is going to counter him but good. but even if he loses i think he'll regroup, bounce back and get serious with his defense.

half a round is not enough to make an evaluation on a fighter you haven't seen extensively in the past. Breidis Prescott springs to mind.

    asero,

didn't know he was one of nacho's boys. anyways, i've been very high on this kid, salgado, for a couple of years. i just didn't think he was ready for a title shot yet. but yes, he has alot of solid attributes as a boxer. he's tall, long reach, solid chin, damned good technician and he can punch. and it doesn't hurt having one of the best trainers in the world!

Too early to talk about fighting big names at the higher weigh class. Salgado didn't show much in that fight. He hit Linares solidly with his first power punch thus the early ending. It's just like the Khan vs Prescott and the Pac vs Hatton fight. Very short action.

Nobody can tell based on the Linares fight. Hell it lasted not even a round. Not really a long time to analyse a fighter's strengths and weaknesses. It was simply too short for that.

I think Salgado is with Nacho... A member of Team JMM, Jaime Quintana is with Salgado in Japan...
