Round 1

Sanchez is firing his right jab at Mayol and circling in either direction, trying to keep it ranged. Mayol steps in with a big left hook and turns Sanchez's head. Mayol tries to place a high jab and work his way in with a right hand over the top as Sanchez takes long strides to the side. Body shots by Mayol. Flush 1-2 by Mayol, and a big right hand over the top. Left hook by Mayol in an exchange, and Sanchez's legs dip.

Round 2

Sanchez is dropping his right jab across the gap and firing lefts to the body of Mayol to keep him outside. Mayol tries to work his way in past the jab, hunkering low and leading with big right hands over the top. A few shots cast down to the body by Mayol on the way in but he isn't closing the distance as well as in the first and getting nothing upstairs. Meanwhile Sanchez has established his jab from a couple of paces outside Mayol's reach.

Round 3

Sanchez is smacking his right jab out, backhanded into Mayol's face from the outside. Mayol tries to swing his way in with big high cuts, but gets jabbed or swallowed up in Sanchez's long arms and held. Sanchez opens up with a volley of straight shots chasing Mayol into a corner, and the bell rings, late hit by Mayol!!! (or may have been a headbutt, the ref was blocking the camera angle) Sanchez out cold on his back, laid flat!! Illegal blow!! Not a KO!! But he's OUT!! His chief second is kneeling next to him trying to revive him with Sanchez's head in his lap.

Round 4

Sanchez is plugging lefts to the body while floating his jab up in Mayol's face. Big diving rights to the body by Mayol, moving in like a submarine and breaching in range to punch. Mayol taps Sanchez's head with both hands and then twists at the waist to load up a huge left hook to the body. Sanchez leans forward and reaches in with straight pecking shots, as Mayol sidesteps and fires back with shorter punches.

OK, they've shown a few replays now - the punch at the end of the third that rendered Sanchez borderline unconscious was both a late hit and a rabbit punch. It didn't seem to be flagrant on Mayol's part, just got caught up in the course of the fight as both were finishing the round with a flourish in the pocket.

Round 5

Mayol is driving Sanchez back across the ring with big 1-2s up on his toes!! Left jabs and right hands are reaching up and catching Sanchez over his gloves. Mayol is all but ignoring Sanchez's right jab or maneuvering underneath it. BIG LEFT HOOK by Mayol after moving in close. Left hook by Mayol, ducking a Sanchez right hook on the way out. Lead rights up top followed by jabs as Mayol threads his way in and out while circling. Sanchez looks very uncomfortable here. WILD shots by Mayol, missing but scaring the **** out of Sanchez and causing him to stay back. Sanchez finally decides to hold his ground with mere seconds on the clock, headhunting with a 1-2. Mayol ducks and counters with a left hook on the button, and scores a flash knockdown. Sanchez gets up as the count extends through the bell.
