From an interview today on boxing**lk GL: You find yourself in a funny position now because prior to the fight with Nate Campbell, even though Casamayor holds the linear title you were considering yourself the lightweight champion of the world. Now that Nate Campbell holds your titles, and your fighting for Casmayor's linear title, will you become the lightweight champion if you beat Casamayor? JD: "You know what Greg? I don't think, in my eyes, I'm not going to be the champion until I defeat Nate Campbell. He's the guy I want to get back in the ring with. But due to promotional issues and other factors the fight doesn't seem likely. I'm going to go with whatever is the best deal for me, but at the end of the day I want to get back in the ring with Nate Campbell and beat him. Or whoever holds the titles I had is who I want to fight the most." Spoken like a true fighter. Good job Juan. Edit: Marley is reporting that Casa-JMM is made for Oct 11 on ppv, so it looks like Juan will fight Katsidis instead and Nate will most likely fight Guzman
Campbell/Guzman should be a great fight, as well as JMM/Casa, as well as Katsidis/Diaz. All good fights!
He works for the promotional outfit of Nate Cambell, so its most likely related to something Diaz did or said in regards to him.
I agree about the skill level of Casa in his formative years, and I still pick him over Pac right now at 135lbs. He lost to Santa Cruz though, and has seen his best days. He will only be a boxer who looks great every other outing at this point.
Really? I think Pac stops Casa with relative ease to be honest. He went life and death with Katsidis and Pac is much better all around than Katsidis
Yea, many people don't agree with me. Casa is very cagey, very intelligent, has a good jab, and will use angles to redirect Pac's up and down style of movement while countering enough to win a decision IMO. And don't forget that Pac has climbed in weight many times. At this point, he will be meeting bigger men.
he lost in a very respectful manner. He had been headbutted and developed a swollen shut eye, and never quite. Never resorted to the dirty tactics Nate used on him. Diaz showed he is a true warrior even in defeat. So How could somebody lose respect for Juan Diaz?
The OP is in the promotional loop, so I don't doubt that what he hears may soon be official, though I don't think it is yet.
casa is way past his prime than jmm. JMM probably wins right now even though i'm more a casa fan but i would still be rooting for him
