I've always thought Juan Diaz was a bit to small for 135, that he could cut some of that baby fat and fight at 130 and actually have pop at that division. After Last Saturday I don't think he should fight at 140, there's really no need, the division isn't eve stacked, and I'm not sure he would be able to pressure the bigger guys.
He definitely looks like he could easily make 130 if he dedicated himself. He always has excess fat on him even at 135.
Diaz looked small in there against Malignaggi. It would be a bad idea IMO for Diaz to fight at 140. Juan isn't a heavy puncher as it is, his power would be worse at that weight.
He needs to stay at lightweight and stay in texas. He would never lose a bout with all that silly judging.
I hope GBP does whats best for him, get him a fight with Hatton, and then advice to him go back down to 135 after that good win.
For Christ Sake and for the last time.... Diaz has not fought at 130 since he was ****in 17! Its not cause he isnt dedicated... the guy has always trained hard... he's a naturally 135 pounder! Just cause he isnt cut, doesnt mean he's better off at 130. Diaz would be SEVERLY weight drained at 130. Diaz is a classic, and true lightweight. He's too big to able to make 130, and he's too small to compete at 140. 135 is the only division he should be at. He naturally grew outta 130 YEARS ago.
I've always thought that same thing too. too bad he never went that route because it could've set him up for some big superfights with opponents like Morales, Barrera, Pacquiao, and JMM back when they campaigned at 130. A lot of people like to say that a fighter doesn't need a great physique to be successful, but in this instance Juan's extra baby fat might have hurt him financially in the long run. For now I do agree that he should probably stay at 135.
Fight will never happen. It'd be a waste of Pac's time. Pac wants only big fights at this point. Diaz wouldnt see past round 2. My guess is that if Diaz drops back to 135, he'll probably be matched with Valero. And I think Valero will end his career.
No he couldnt. This what you guys dont realize. If he could... he would. Ive never been a Diaz fan, but one thing I'll never accuse him of is lacking dedication. He's been fighting at 135 for damn near his entire career. You cant just ask a guy to drop down to a division that they havent competed in since they were a TEENAGER. Diaz is a lightweight, plain and simple. He's always come into fights in excellent condition, he just doesnt have the body type to where he'll ever looked ripped like a Mayweather, or Mosley. At 130 at this stage in his life he'd be EXTREMELY weakened, and would gas out very quickly. Some of yall simply dont think very well.
