Juan diaz rejected guzman bout and decided to go with rolando reyes

This is a good fight. I thought Reyes looked good in his last fight.

 

What was the official reason why J Diaz rejected the fight with Guzman?

 

There was nothing to "reject" because it wasnt a legitimate fight in the first place. The Floyd-JMM ppv card is a Mayweather-GBP controlled card. How is it that a Top Rank/Sycuan fighter (Guzman) has any say so about calling out someone on a card controlled by someone else? And besides, with the percentages that Floyd and JMM are making, there isnt anywhere near enough money available for a fight like that on the undercard, considerig Diaz would make a minimum of $750k on his Aug 22 HBO date in Houston.

This whole thing was just Guzmans publicist talking smack. I doubt Joan even knew anything about it. It would be no different than me saying "Hey Nate accepts a fight against Bradley on the Cotto-Clottey card" (Top Rank's show), as if I have any say-so about who Top Rank puts on that card.

The whole thing was ******ed from the get go.

 

:good Defo will be a better FIGHT than Vs. Guzman.

 

Guzman would probably beat him. He needs a break to recharge his faith in himself.

 

This isn't too bad of a fight at all.

Guzman may be more well known but he can stink a ring up.

Diaz has lost 2 of his last 3 so no major complaints w/ him fighting Reyes.

 

the guy is coming up a 9 round war in which he was beat down and ktfo and now people are dissing him for not wanting to rush into another dangerous high profile fight?

edit. but after reading a few of the replies i can see most people still have some common sense.

 

it's better for our eyes to see a fight like diaz vs reyes....diaz will make reyes fight, and reyes is way better off his backfoot then he is coming forward.....plus, he's tough as **** too, so diaz better be ready for a 12rd war.........well, maybe not war but it will be tough to get reyes out of there.....

hopefully they can still have guzman on the card.......i can't wait

Rolando Reyes is coming off a win over Julio Diaz and has won 5 fights in a row. His last loss was to Jose Luis Castillo.

I don't think he's an amazing opponent but he's a good spoiler with some pop who matches up well with Diaz. The light punching perpetual motion machine against the defense minded big boomer.
