Juan Diaz looks like his punching technique is solid. Bends his legs, gets leverage on his shots but for some reason, he doesn't seem to have the power that his technique and leverage suggests.

I know its partially genetic but its sad to see a fighter like him who seems to lack the power his technique and leverage suggests he should have.

Well, simply put, he doesn't have "NO power". He's got average power. He's a medium-strength volume puncher. He's not a big hitter and he's not the 135-pound Malignaggi either.

Paulie doesnt even commit to his punches, Diaz does. Diaz has BELOW average power on the world class level.

He's not blessed with power, and he also has a tendency to punch AT the target, rather than THROUGH it.

Its kind of sad to see such a exciting fighter come up short because of one major deficiency.

I've seen Paulie commit to his punches and he's still feather-fisted. And world class level means significantly above average, yeah? So, yes, Xplosive, Diaz is well below average compared only to a group of significantly above average punchers... As I said, I stand by medium-strength volume puncher. :good

    This :deal

I've always thought of Juan Diaz as a bit of an arm puncher, he throws some decent shots to the body but his head shots seem to flail a bit in general.

Also he's a bit of a stalker type, I don't think his constant movement helps him plant his feet well, even though he does bend his knees. Plus gotta agree with a load of other peeps and say he aint exactly blessed with the prime body/power of other boxers.

He punches very well but does not ball his fists into the opponent. It is more of his wrists. If he closed his hands tighter and punched through the target, as one poster mentioned, he will have significantly more power.

He stunned JMM. He has average power. Him throwing in bunches only makes his power smaller.

I always thought he was a little bit too small for the weight. Could this have something to do with his lack of dig. Always thought he could cut some weight.
