Juan Diaz vs. Floyd at 140???

A bit.... a bit.....:scaredas: The difference is that cotto has middleweight power in his left hand. Juan is not a hard hitting lightweight that is a volume puncher. Cotto is a better counter puncher and is damned for sure a more effective puncher. Cotto hits you to break you down to get knocked the **** out. Juan just beats you up. BIG difference. Big difference.

 

With the fights could (and SHOULD) be making, going to 140 does not seem too appealing right now with Cotto and Mosley possibly on the horizon.

 

I can see it in a few tears, but not right now. Juan works on the few flaws he has and Floyds foot speed slows a little.

 

Ndou used his height much less then Williams though. And Ndou wasn't as fast or as good as Williams to be honest. The southpaw stance and the long reach will make it very hard for Floyd to counter without getting hit himself. The only thing I can really see Floyd doing is luring Williams by being extremely tight defensively, and being patient for his countering opportunities. Still a very big possibility, as Margarito was negating the offence of Williams to a degree, especially later in the fight. Surely Floyd would be able to do this a greater extent considering his defensive skills. Floyd is never going to outwork Williams, so the secret would be to make him miss and make him pay. I still think that Floyd would pull this one out, although it is a bad match up style wise, he is a master boxer.

 

Floyd Mayweather would stop Diaz late. Mayweather has shown the strength to fight guys at higher weigts and has competed as high as 154 on a world class level. Diaz could forget steamrolling Mayweather who isnt gonna stay in the pocket and tradee longer than he has too. The reach advantage is too large for floyd not to take advantage and also counter and throw combinations outside where Diaz vunerable because of his slow feet and average defense. Diaz has fast has but has to be set to punch. Mayweathers hand speed, experience, and strength will surprise Diaz, who like everyone else thinks he'd run right througgh Mayweather, who'd actually have the power advantage. Stylistically because of his relentless he will be tough the whole way through(remember the Chavez fight at 130) but too many clean shots will stop Diaz late.

I would have to say PBF by ko ....juan diaz is a game fighter but PBF Would have too much for him

 

Pressure is just a "buzz word" most picked up as the main ingredient to beat floyd.
Think about it, Floyd been pressure his whole career of course he going to develop technique to combat pressure fighters. Not to mention his uncle made living off of fighting pressure fighter , so he has some game that he can give young floyd also..

but to answer your question Diaz style is not your typical Mexican pressure fighter , he has a east cost /Mexican style about him no doubt this is result of Ronnie Shields, but when diaz steps to his opponent he has no less then 3-4 shot loaded in the chamber and ready to go at all times and he fights from angles ,I do think this style would give floyd problems , only because diaz comes forward in angles . If Floyd back into the ropes against Diaz , Diaz would throw combos from every angle , this would prevent Floyd from putting the cross hairs on him and picking his shots, allowing diaz score more and look to be the busy fighter.

 

Diaz is my favorite fighter at 135 and I would hate to see the boxing lesson PBF would give him. Why would Diaz want this fight anyway? Too many more fights for him at 135.

 

That's an easy question to answer, it would be his biggest payday and he would get a ton of exposure. The better question is, why would Floyd want this fight? The answer is he wouldn't, which is why this fight will never even be considered.

 

Juan could get that and a better chance to win against Pac. PBF is all wrong for him.

 

Juan Diaz is slow as molasses, made Julio Diaz look like speedy Gonzales in many exchanges.

Floyd is too much for Juan.

 

Juan Diaz has been a beneficiary of the lack of current talent at lightweight, and good management. Put him in with Casamayor and Campbell. If he's able to beat them, then he can go up to 140 and get schooled by Paulie.
