Diaz is young; if he fills out and moves up naturally to 147 this could be a damned good fight. Now though, Cotto is too powerful for most natural 147 lbers, much less guys two classes down.

Saying that Cotto would absolutely brutalize Diaz may be an understatement

Dude, its 12 pounds from lightweight to WW. Juan Diaz is a fatty at lightweight. At ww he'll get killed by Cotto. JD can't box. Cotto can box and can bang. I can't wait for Cotto's first left hook to fatty's waist. He'll be lucky to last 7 rounds.

I agree with just about everything you said except that Diaz can't box. If you see his fight with the other Cotto brother diaz showed a ton of versatility there and showed that he can box if he chooses too. it's just that he is really effective walking forward throwing 10000000 punches per round. I am sure if he was in against a guy that is actually stronger than him he would box. Cotto would still KO him though.

Cotto would systematically break Diaz down and stop him in 7 rounds or less.

I'm not arguing that. I am jsut using that fight as an example of Diaz shwoing that he can box if he chooses to.

All things being even I think Diaz's work rate would carry the day.
In reality I think a 147 Cotto is too big for a 135 Diaz.

It will be Cotto making Diaz quit on his stole.

I like them both 2 of my favs at the moment. but i'll go with cotto on this one. both use workrate & pressure. with cotto having the edge in power imo.
but i would have to see how juan is perfoming at 147 to really make the pick.

After Hatton murders Diaz at 140, we wont be needing this discussion :)
