right now, Rios doesn't have an opponent, and has an available July 9th fight date with a TBA (to be announced) opponent.

Rios should fight Juan Diaz on that date.

It would be a terrific action fight while it lasts.

I'd fully expect Rios to wear the Baby Bull down and eventually stop him in the mid to late rounds.

    Why wouldn't Rios take it?

    Winnable, big name...

Unbeaten Euro Cahmpion-John Murray has called out Brandon Rios many times and Rios has ignored him.

Now Diaz is calling out Rios on Rios' personal Twitter page, and no response from Rios.

    Well, Murray isn't really a high-profile big-money TV-worthy opponent in the US.

    Baby Bull is.

I think this is a good name for Rios to fight... Even though Diaz is his past his prime, he is still a good fighter and IMO could beat all but the elite LWs like Marquez,Guerrero,Rios ... I would give him a good shot at beating the the other titlist Soto and Vasquez.

I think this is also a good test for Rios he will gain good experience in this fight .... I think DIaz will give him a tough fight and fat least hold his own during the early and mid rounds.. But i see RIos turning it up in the late rounds .. If he dont stop him he wins a hard fought decision.

Agreed no none is calling for that fight over here, only hard core boxing fanatics have heard of Murray (in the US)... Only way Rios fights him is if hes a mandatory... Makes no $$ cents or sense.

Rios could make a lot of great fights with name guys, other titlist, and to make it better most of the top LW are Mexican or Mex American... And we all now those matches get heated and make for good rivalrys. Although i get the feeling Marquez isnt gonna get in the mix,, I think hes thinking about retirement and as mind somewhere else...

Omri Lowther and Anthony Peterson were not high-profile big money fights either, and Rios just fought them a couple of fights ago.

That was before his profile started to rise dramatically.

    He's past that level now.

(not that Diaz is on a different level of talent from Peterson right now, necessarily - but definitely a bigger name/draw)

    Here's a true copy from Juan Diaz's

    Poor Juan. :verysad

    ...poor fans, too.

It would in all likelihood have been a savage win for Rios, but fun while it lasted. On the off chance that Diaz survived (and impressed at least two of the judges enough to get the vote) - how huge a comeback win would that be? It would be one for the record books and a nice feather in the cap of a legacy that's already fairly respectable given his limited natural talents and all his distractions outside the sport.
