why are people saying he gets hit way too much....now andrade, he gets hit way too much...but the baby bull has some alright defense considering his style...hands up high, nice head movement that never stops, and only leaves his face open when he unleashing a flury of punches.....

what do you guys think about his defense...:huh

Diaz has poor defense but makes up for it with relentless offense.

I think natrual Lightweight power puncher could derail Diaz.

I don't think he's got a defense, he stands in the pocket, and he throws a lot.
Keeps his hands up high, which reflect a lot of the punches that are thrown at him, but he's standing in the pocket where not much damage can be done to him. Basically, he's in your chest all night long, he makes a puncher brawl.
There are good punchers out there that throw short hooks, uppercuts with brutal force, that can stun Juan.

He gets hit, sure.. but he's got balance and stance to take the final edge in your powerpunches away.

With that style, Diaz is sure to get hit. But that taken into account, for an offensive fighter I think he does a very good job keeping defense in mind. Of course he's hittable, but certainly nothing like an Andrade.

He got the type of defense that won't carry him in higher weights against harder puncher that can break through his guard. He have a winky wright type defense that gets beat up by his own glove or people who shoots down the middle. Is good defense if he can hold off his opponent's punches.

I agree, he does enough defensive wise to get the job done. At the same time, he knows his opponent won't hurt him.

Uh, lightweight. He moved down to 130 for the middle of his career, but he was a natural lightweight :deal

Besides, what natural hard hitting lightweight do you really think could beat him? Katsidis? Is there another natural lightweight who hits hard? Katsidis is pretty raw and almost lost to a journeyman and a prospect - you really think he could win?

Juan "D" is decent....his Offensive Volume and the PACE allows his Defense to seem better than it is. Juan's "D" is mostly his offense. He gets hit more when he's not throwing than when he is trading.

For such an aggressive pressure fighter, Diaz has very good defense. He keeps his hands high on the inside and has decent head movement.

Diaz has very good defense for his style of fight. Most fighters would dream to give 8 punches and take 1 in return in a trading situation. When he sticks to his jab and doesnt open up he does not get hit. That is ridiculous.
