This man has given us everything a fan could want in a fighter. He's a technical master, he's incredibly fun to watch and doesn't avoid a challenge. He has a great heart and is typically Mexican with his left hand. His résumé is insane, including:

    Carlos Cuadras 2x
    Srisaket Sor Rungvisai
    'Tyson' Marquez
    Giovanni Segura
    Milan Melindo
    Brian Viloria
    Juan Carlos Sanchez

Some of those were great fights: Cuadras I & II, Rungvisai I, Chocolatito, Sanchez II, Marquez and Segura. What are your thoughts on the man who gives us so many fun fights?

Like you mentioned George. Estrada is an amazing fighter and if he fights and beats Roman, he will have avenged all of his losses.

Also he would have a ton of possible opponents: Rungvisai rubbermatch, Ioka/Tanaka winner, Ancajas or even move up to face Inoue. :chuck:

Estrada is one of the most beautiful punchers in the sport alongside the likes of Pacquiao, Inoue, Bivol, Golovkin (prime), and Mikey. Timing, punch selection, punch sequence... When these guys throw, it's a feast for the eyes.

He should handle Chocolatito without too much difficulty. He will most likely KO Chocolatito in the rematch.

The Marquez comparison is sound in areas, but there's quite a few differences between them, and IMO, advantages for Estrada.

Obviously JFE has said before that JMM is his inspiration and helps define his style, and you can definitely see it. He has a brilliant lead hand, it's abnormal. Excellent at teeing his man up with it, and can throw this weird, long, scythe-like left uppercut, often coming from behind a solid jab and able to be doubled up on with ease. Good level changes with both the lead uppercuts and hooks. He doesn't really have the right hand to back it up, though. He's far from one-handed, but he's definitely better with his left than right. Marquez was incredible with both.

Marquez was better at positioning his feet on defence, but he often get stuck when a guy didn't comply with him and walk him down, Estrada doesn't. His ring cutting is sublime, as his micromanaging, angled steps means he can set up his punches and pin someone on the ropes. He was much better at walking someone down than Marquez was. His head-movement seems to be a bit more flashy than Marquez's too.

JFE and JMM both have a great pivot to the left whilst throwing a left hook to the body.

Love Estrada,2nd best littleman of his generation behind Gonzalez. Such a great era, its a shame Inoue missed out on Gonzalez, Estrada, Sriskat and Cuadras, was some great fights to be had with Inoue

Estrada reminds me more of Rafael Marquez rather than JMM.

Take Hernan off that list. That was an execution. That was the corpse of Hernan.

I was a bit sad watching him on Saturday the lefthand looks to have gone back a bit? Or at least it wasn't what it was, why's that do you think? Do you think his reactions have slowed a bit and he can't see them like he could? Seemed it wasn't until he slowed down that he was able to land that punch in the olde way?

But yeah, one of the best of his generation and a wonderful fighter to watch, watching him emerge against Roman, live, was absurd. In fact, I didn't actually see it happen live I kind of only really twigged rewatching it the following day, like "holy **** that boy is good." I think Estrada wasn't even ranked going into that fight?

Rungvisai rematch is the one. Their second fight spelled doom for Rungvisai.

I remember when he was an unknown who gave Roman Gonzalez a surprisingly tough fight. I thought Gonzalez had had an 'off-night'. It turns out he had just crossed paths with a fellow future hall of fame, though no one knew it yet.
