It's not Gonzales-Estrada II, but I'll take it. I love Brian. Dude is a lil beast and his tear through Romero/Marquez/Segura was epic.

I don't see the second one going that differently than the first, which sucks since I like Viloria more than Estrada.

All or nothing for Viloria. I think he underestimated Estrada but for Vilorias sake i hope he understands that Estrada has elevated his game.

    WAR! :fire

I suspect Estrada to defeat Viloria in the same decisive fashion.

But Viloria has made a long great career of winning these sort of fights.

    I hope this goes down.

He has justified having a good career with his top performances in my opinion. Especially with his big late career revival before running into Estrada.

Yeah dude, just boxrec'd to refresh and wow you are harsh on Viloria.

Viloria holds wins over: Giovani Segura, Hernan Marquez, Pingo Miranda, Ulises Solis, Jose Aguirre, Eric Ortiz, Gilberto Keb Baas, Omar Nino III, and Alberto Rossel. 2 division champ; 2 time at 108 and unified 112... His loses are in some respects glaring but it's not as though they were against poor fighters. His longevity for his size is impressive. And most of those fights listed are great watches with high action and some drama.

Ill agree that Viloria was overrated going into the first Romero fight. He was praised by many as a big hitting puncher in the lower weights and only had 1 name on his resume at the time but he was no where near overrated as Calderon was. There was a time period stretch when many had Calderon on par with Ricardo Lopez and possibly even the best straw weight fighter of all time. It's silly to put Viloria higher than that level.

You also are not giving Viloria much credit to how much of a skill set he has. Viloria's problems aren't his boxing skills but his mentality going into fights. He always seems to fight at the same level of his opposition and look too far ahead of himself. He blew the first Romero fight because according to him he had broken up with his girlfriend but he also had a huge title unification with Koki Kameda in Japan lined up but all he had to do was beat Romero which we know the outcome of that fight (the only fight he has been completely dominated in). However in the 2nd fight Viloria completely outclassed him by a fair margin despite horrific scoring from the judges that night. He won the first half of the Sosa fight but just gave up in the 2nd half for whatever reason.
But just when he was given up for good he makes a big comeback against a dominant fighter in Ulises Solis.

After getting Ko'd in the last round of a fight he was winning he was given up for once again. Then picks up a title off Miranda whom made the mistake of looking ahead (rematch with Segura). Goes on to unify and destroy Segura, Marquez and Romero.

The Estrada bout was supposed to be his "easy" showcase bout since it was in Asia. He was soundly beaten (competitively) and given up for again. So this time around I wouldn't put it behind for Viloria to make the upset against Estrada. Viloria thrives on being the underdog and Estrada is already making the mistake of looking ahead towards a Roman Gonzalez rematch.

As for your claim he has been taken care of by judges. Other than maybe the Omar Soto fight. Which fights were you referring to?

Actually Viloria was leading up to the stoppage of the Tamara fight and like I said Viloria was only overrated once in his career and that was when he first won his title. Over the next few years he has become excruciating underrated. He was the underdog against Solis, Segura and Miranda but managed to soundly beat them all. The Solis fight did have discrepancies with the point deductions but Viloria took the judging out of the equation and legitimately knocked Solis out. Other than that fight (not even as of the result) no other official has helped Viloria that resulted the outcome to change in his favor. The Marquez fight wasn't really competitive at all except for the few times when Marquez hurt Viloria (and one of the later rounds when Marquez emptied his load). That fight reminds me of a typical Khan fight which he is dominating through out and then gets reckless and gets hurt to change the momentum. It was exciting but as for a rematch it would be for entertainment value only with Viloria out boxing him once again.

As for Calderon it's arguable about who is more skilled but Ill give you the benefit of the doubt even though Viloria has the edge over the amateur bouts with each other (2-1). However, Viloria's resume laps Calderon's and IMO Viloria is perhaps a big win away (Gonzalez) from All Time Greatness in these weights.

We are going to have to agree to disagree on the Marquez bout. I had Viloria winning almost every round except like 1 or 2 at the time of the stoppage. Marquez had a few rounds when he hurt Viloria but got careless and got himself knocked down or dazed to lose the round. Going into the Miranda fight Viloria was the underdog but not by much.

I remain skeptic about Viloria in the Estrada rematch but he has proved me wrong and came back in exciting fashion after being given up for twice in his career. If he can make it 3 then hopefully he gets the appreciation he deserves. I would like to see him go after Sosa win or lose in the Estrada rematch while Sosa is still relevant.
