Interesting fight on paper. Nietes would have been able to give Gallo a tough outing a couple years back but he's already 41 years old and it clearly shows how much he's slipped in his last couple fights.
Ehh..... Don't really care. Nietes will probably still have enough to be annoying but will lose a clear decision. Should be Ioka/Estrada.
As others have said this would have been far more welcome in prior years. Nietes had decent longevity himself but he isn't operating at the same levels as, say, an Ioka still in 2024. (wasn't on his level h2h in 2022 and we've seen Ioka maintain that form while bro has straight up vanished) Gallo would get very limited credit for beating current Nietes, especially if he swerved the NYE date for this.
This should be a good fight for Estrada to shake the ring rust off. I wouldn't count out Nitete completely though.
Nietes has just one win in the last five years. Other than safely shaking off ring rust, this fight does nothing for Estrada.
Only thing I can think of tactically would be, if he kayos Nietes (first to ever do it, something Ioka failed to do) then he may feel it gives him the A-side upper hand in renewed negotiations with Ioka.
