Won't be as good as IB's RBR's but better than nothing

Relatively slow feeling out stuff for the most part, Alvarez doesn't look intimidated by his highly regarded foe and holds his own for the most part, however he is cut over the right eye. Estrada starts to heat things up in the final minute.

    10-9 Estrada

Estrada also cut, left eye I think

Alvarez looks very fast on his feet and very confident but I doubt he has the power to make Estrada respect him. Estrada loses balance and the crowd get excited, things really warming up for a high skilled and fast paced bout here. Alvarez eats a big one and fires back! Another solid shot up top from Estrada. Estrada warned for use of the head. Estrada picking the better shots but Alvarez hasn't come to just pick up the payday.
    20-18 Estrada

Neither cut appears that bad btw but Estrada's did seem to bleed more in the second round

Alvarez letting his hands go early with some lovely quick stuff, most of which lands on the guard-he does get a solid body shot through though. Estrada missing a lot of his shots early in the round, clear slip from Alvarez, very quiet from Estrada in the first 90...100 seconds, Alvarez slips again-HUGE slip in Estrada's corner. Estrada tries to bring the beat with a minute left but only fights for about 15 seconds, VERY poor round from the Flyweight champion despite some solid shots in the final 30 seconds.
    29-28 Estrada

Alvarez's slips and Estrada's lack of work were the key things there

Both land jabs early in round 4, solid body shot from Alvarez and a good straight left soon afterwards, Estrada backing up under pressure, Alvarez genuinely making this interesting with his impressive speed. Alvarez slips AGAIN in Estrada's corner-crowd go wild but it was a clear slip, Estrada looking sluggish at times, "Gallo" chant from the crowd and he has a nice burst of success, sickening body shot from Estrada, good little bursts of singles from Estrada and Alvarez returns the favour a few seconds later. Close.

    39-37

On replay a punch did land PRIOR to the slip, still the right call though

Alvarez continues to box confidently and seems to feel like he has a genuine chance here, HARD right hook by Alvarez, Estrada covers up for a moment, hard rights from Estrada up top, Estrada snaps Alvarez's head back and is on top for a moment but doesn't follow up and Alvarez composes himself, Estrada backs up Alvarez for a moment before the Filipino fires back.

Estrada really is looking disappointing here. He's winning but not shining...If Alvarez continues like this and sees out the bell his stock rises, Estrada's drops

They seemed ready to stop this halfway into the sixth...

Alvarez comes forward and corners Estrada for a second before the Mexican escapes with some lovely footwork, Alvarez with a cracking straight left to the head, Estrada really quiet again, hard straight from Estrada, lovely burst from Alvarez. Alvarez's gets his cut wiped-both eyes now cut on the brow, hard left from Alvarez, and another. I really wonder what Estrada is playing at.

    58-56 Estrada

What is up with former Chocolatito victims (ones that gave him tough fights, too) suddenly beginning to look ragged overnight and struggling with unheralded opponents?

Rodriguez with Fajardo, now Estrada with Alvarez...

(not to mention Omar Soto, coming off a nice win over Glenn Donaire actually, getting knocked out by 12-12-2 Ulises Lara :!: ...though Soto didn't fare nearly as well as Rodriguez or Estrada with Gonzalez...)

Alvarez on the offensive early and lands a few light but sharp shots, Estrada backing up and circling. Estrada's footwork is slower that Alvarez's but is world class in terms of knowing where he wants to be. Blood streaming from Alvarez's left eye but no inspection this time (yet), HARD body shot from Alvarez, sharp left upstairs from the Filipino, crowd whistling a little, Estrada lands a solid shot that raises the crowd for about 2 seconds, Estrada having a lil more success late and rocks Alvarez to his heels on the bell. Close.

    68-65 Estrada

Another nice start from Alvarez with Estrada continuing to look...sluggish, Alvarez's lack of power is his main problem here as he's looking like a very nice speedy fighter. Estrada falling short with a combination, Alvarez holds, HARD left from the Filipino, 2 solid body shots from Estrada, blood trickling from Alvarez's cut again, whistles from the crowd who probably expected more from the home fighter, Estrada puts his foot to the gas in the final 30 seconds.

    78-74

    Joebert shaded the eighth, IMO.

Alvarez comes forward again early in the round with Estrada not really doing much, Alvarez's work has slowed and Estrada is picking it up in bursts but not doing much over-all, clash of heads and both walk away in a bit of pain, back to action and both land clean before standing off.

Sorry but if Estrada fights like this against anyone in the top 10 at 112/115 he gets beat. Terrible performance. I wonder if it's to lure Bob Arum into letting him have Shiming or something.

Certainly wouldn't argue too much either way
